Its hard to believe for a second its the end. I believe more public support for certain ideologies than we think. Although, with the main parties shifting left to gain votes as needed, a merge in the distant future is possible. The Prodigal Son could pull it off someday.
2 party elections better anyway??

It will be the end of the NDP as a contender to lead. They know they can't go more to the center because then Drama Boy and the Red Scum will then be the left. So all they can do is go hard left and bask in their glory while smelling each others farts. However, it might eventually lead to an NDP - Green merger - when neither has anything to lose.

It wasn't that long ago the Liberals were in the wilderness and the NDP were the official opposition, so opinions can change. What I found disturbing was Premier Notley's news conference on Monday. In it she condemned the part of the Leap Manifesto which refers to the building of pipelines but she did not condemn the rest of the manifesto. Gil McGowan head of the Alberta Federation of Labour was on QR 77 radio Monday evening and said the same thing. The manifesto covers many areas besides pipelines. Much higher corporate taxes, higher energy royalties, changes to farming, community ownership of business an extreme socialist dream. The fact that our Premier only condemned one small part of this document is eye opening. As for it killing the federal NDP, at present they are not popular but that can change. Politics in Canada continues to move left a little at a time.

Good piece in the NP linked below.
Manifesto missteps -
"The problem of catastrophic global climate change is not carbon, it’s capitalism, so Klein’s argument goes."
I guess I didn't realize that China, the world's largest emitter of carbon, is capitalist, but I'm sure they'll get right on board...
" “The new iron law of energy development must be: if you wouldn’t want it in your backyard, then it doesn’t belong in anyone’s backyard.†So, no giant windmills, then, one can only surmise...."
As far as the animals all having the same parts, that may be somewhat anatomically correct, but there are lots of old sows and cows whose brains are much larger...

Old NDP er from Nova Scotia phoned Gormley today. He says the Manifesto NDP's highjacked the party. He wants a nationwide pipeline, oil exploration, resource basedecenemy. Gormley thinks he turned into a Conservative. i think the grass rooters are pissed at the party destroying itself.
