we went several years without a mill in this area after weyerhauser pulled the pin . highways stayed very good . last winter they were hauling logs again and highway 23 is pounded all to shit . I asked traffic cop about it and he was pissed right off at them . he said they get permits to haul an extra 15 k app. (could be wrong on the exact amount) he said it used to have to be minus 6 to get a permit , last winter it got changed to 0 degrees , so if sun is shining , pavement could be 10 deg warmer ! he also said if they don't have a permit , they can just call for one after getting stopped and carry on their way .
my question is , why in the f$&k can't forestry live by the same rules as the rest of trucking industry including farmers ?
asked local mla about it , might as well poured water on a ducks back , he couldn't care less about highways , I guess?
can anyone explain why log trucks need to piss up highways ? was hauling grain today at secondary weight dodging the holes
