April 19 Manitoba Election

Can the Cons gain the 10 seats needed to win a majority. With out counting it looks like Winterpeg has about half the available seats. Government may change but I think it will be more balanced than Sask's results, which hopefully provides better government.

What are the polls saying? Sweeping change, new government with a narrow margin or maybe a reduced status quo?

Latest polls has pc's at 55%. My guess is the few northern ridings will stay ndp, and some hard core ndp ridings in north winnipeg. I'm calling 43 seats for PC, 14 NDP 0 for Liberals. Cant wait.

Too long ndp, government should change, just doesn't work to leave them in too long. It will change but lots aren't thrilled at the option either from what people are saying. but maybe its good might be a minority if the third party can make some ground.
Will the Manitoba party have any traction?

The left wing CBC is projecting a landslide.

I'd bet it'll be the same demographics for NDP support in Manitoba as Sask.
Inner city Winnipeg, northern reserves, high crime, high unemployment, government workers who will remain loyal to the NDP.

Oliver88, that's quite a prediction from the "government broadcaster". Makes me wonder if they're just trying to rally those that regularly consume their messages. But with a prediction that wide I'm thinking they might just be giving leftists a reason to stay home,,, just too big of spread, why bother to go out and vote.
The government broadcaster TV channel, sure was trying to pump that Costa Rica story yesterday. Last ditch hope to get a few more people riled up I guess.

PC will finally decimate the NDP. Manitoba and Saskatchewan will move into the next century and Alberta will be the NDP home. How ironic is this. Never because you want change vote in the NDP they destroy and drive people away.

Manitoba party lol , I met our rep in the coffee shop , he said they got to get rid of palli , he got to know me pretty quick, I said why don't we get rid of crooked Greg first, and I didn't talk very nice , the guy running in bosseivain virden area never worked sooooo I not impressed with Manitoba party .

Pallister will win the election, no idea what the seat count will be. Brain will then lower the PST to 7%. With lower government revenues coming in, it will be interesting which government programs Brain will attempt to cut. I doubt any government public service jobs will be lost, as Brain himself was a union rep when he was a teacher. This will make it very difficult to lower the provincial debt any time soon.

Pallister's popularity has more to do with the NDP's raising the PST by 1% after promising they wouldn't, rather than any new policies Pallister will be bring in.

I wish him luck, as Manitoba is a great province!!!

How can u expect him to fix all those years of freebees in a short time. There will never be a government no matter what color balance the books. There are too many takers and not enuf givers. Look at our health care system. Unsustainable yet Stalinger has the nerve to ask him in the debate what part of health care will he privatize. We are screwed in so many ways there is no way out unless we sort it out the old fashion way. But we are way to civilized now.

Simple things amuse simple minds. To keep your facts straight I left Scotland just before the socialists took over there, moved from AB after the NDP came to power.

No government Can fix the NDP screw ups in one term. It takes years to destroy them. If Manitoba doesn't do it right the people will still vote them in again in 4 years.
But after two or three the die hard have died off or left for Alberta and new voters don't know or remember the NDP. But these new ones can also screw you if a leader woos them.
