....you may win or you may lose but at least make your bet on the best odds. But no one really knows what that is until the wheel stops spinning....

      To each their own....

I all depends on how big the precision drill is.
Brown bag seed and fertilize it. If it survives frosts spray it.
If it freezes and dies, go buy seed from the masters' and re plant, the fertilizer is already banded. It doesn't take long to reseed with a 85 foot drill.

Some operations have grown to a size that the "regular" seeding window isn't big enough anymore.

To each their own, but it does raise some eyebrows.

I would say it is probably one of the earliest starts in that area in the last 50 years.

It is only April 19-20th in SE Sask. Maybe peas and lentils will be ok. Anyone take a soil temp where they are?

Don't know about SK but the long range forecast shows a cooling trend here and in AB. After the next couple of days its mostly single digit to 12C highs until the end of the month.

Hey Ache, is that a john deere track pulling a seedmaster? If you have to go because of acres would it not be better to get another seeding outfit or two? If support vehicles are the problem, coyld you not just seed in the same field/area? Not be critical, just a small time operator wondering how the big boys do it?

I was out seeding on Thursday April 14. Or does grass around a building not count!
However the odd one in Torquay area are going I guess. Trust me one guy that is going over there is odd.

Pick the right canola and its free to reseed.

We always seeded one or two fields of early lentils. The crop was never as good as the neighbours who seeded nearer to May 5, but there were years where we had #1's and the rest were Extra 3's. It also gave us a chance to try out and prepare our harvesting outfit.
