When I said cost of production I should have made it clear that I meant all
costs in including opportunity cost and a great big fat wage for yourself.

And ya, just because you had a great yield it doesn't mean start blowing
out your inventory for a set amount of profit per acre. You never know when the
next bumper is going to come along.

We are ALL dreamers, thinking we can beat the SYSTEM, sometimes but NEVER always. Target gets hit so we sign a higher target and market NEVER gets there, so sad so mad! Have a cost of productio but the overage is our return to labor and investment. One can survive on NO labor return and no investment return.
Been a long time since prices were below those numbers. Might have said but 2015 Canola=$5.88 to cover fixed and variable. Wheat $4.17 for same. So we averaged $115/acre on wheat to labor and investment.
Canola returned $194/ acre to labor and investment....90% priced. Any one care to share #'s?

fjlip, our crop was too thirsty too long last year to "return" those kinds of numbers. Based on production, sometimes the market won't provide a price to make any, or much of, a profit. No guarantees in this racket!

Is there any public info on what targets were accepted? Or only the bottom price Co's are offering.
