    Europe-US free trade negotiations

Reading on grainews this morning about the free trade negotiations and how agriculturals issues were being avoided for various reasons. One reason was Europeans desire to keep GMO foods and meet raised with artificial growth hormones out of Europe.

My question is this, is it not the same scientific community that evaluates GMO foods that evaluates climate change. Is climate change not supposed to be settled? Why can't the safety of GMO corn or canola be settled? Would think this would be much simpler. You have a seed once grown does not change. Easy to test. The climate on the other hand, is on a planet that has existed over 4 billion years. We have analyzed roughly 100 years of data and declared our verdict. What percentage is 100 of 4 billion? About the same as a handful of grain out of a loaded unit train.
    Have a good day:-)

Guess they won't be getting beef from North America.
Canada uses hormones and USA is GMO corn fed. At least neither country can 100% guarantee to be free of either.

All comes down to "buy what you believe", applies to darn near every situation/opinion...only the consumer /perception is correct, facts just get in the way. Same with the climate, can't prove an f'ing thing, but billions buy the idea, it "MIGHT" be true in 50-100 years! Oh ya how is that 5 day forecast working out, turkeys!

The Europeans have enough beef and grain...they don't need our products. Its the stupid free-traders like Harper and co. who wanted trade.
The Europeans will trade IF it is to there advantage...period.
The North American bloc will give up their own production of cheese and booze and import these products for what?...a tiny amount of beef and a few loads of grain to Europe where they will slam the borders shut or limit imports drastically to protect their own production when ever they feel like it.
Why did Harper think that he could outmaneuver those wily Europeans? They've been traders for centuries and are not naive.
