You mean it's dry in parts of Western Canada?
I looked at an April precip accumulation map this morning. ...most of W. Canada got less than an inch!!! We are net drying (BIG TIME) again...

Yes this is terrible. Hopefully everyone gets out safe. Where is the army? Should be there
But maybe those communities in the bush areas need to start
Thinking about firegards etc.
750,000 for a house trailer? Not the important issue right now but shows how screwed up things are.

There may be people losing things in Ag too this year if it the skys don't open up in places. "Stuff" can be replaced....
I've been a tractor jockey....I will have to catch some TV news coverage from Ft Mc. Hard to believe a city could burn in this day and age. There must be a tremendous amount of fuel for those forest fires.
How much of a buffer zone would be needed around the perimeter to prevent fire from jumping to buildings etc. Is it feasible and how is it maintained in difficult terrain? It's like building a house on a flood plain....sooner or later. I hope no lives have been lost due to this tragedy.

Great to hear there are 0 people killed by the fire.
I feel very bad for these 80,000 displaced and especially the families who lost their homes and businesses hopefully insurance companies pay up accordingly.
I heard on the radio this morning 1600 structures have burnt to the ground, this was earlier today so likely higher number now.
