In our case, it is usually a four inch downpour when they say 30% chance of a shower. I ain't bitter either, just stuck. If it rains like they say, I be so screwed.

Harper donated $134 million to enviro Canada so we would get better forecasts. No questions or monitoring of performance. Guess he should have up it a bit more or turned it over to foreign investors.

Long weekend.forecasts are the best......escpecially when staff stack EDOs onto weekends with the extra long weekend days....and who knows what else maybe a sick day or two added on.

I'm in nw sask and Drew Lerner said we're going to be dry this spring and he's pretty much right. Really starting to think about changing seeding plans. Definitely more feed acres. New hay may do something if rain comes in time but older stuff I think it's too late if 2 week forecast is right. Sub moisture is still there for cereals. Set the drill deeper the last of seeding last year. I think I'm going to keep it there for the wheat. Might need a stepladder for the seed to poke out. How deep can you seed hrs? Deep seeded canola never works for me. Thinking maybe sending the 7440 back and getting the earliest maturing stuff if seedbed moisture goes to hell by the time I get to it. Was thinking about plugging in more oats but I think that will change to wheat. I hate to be pessimistic but.

            Pessimistic

            Realistic

            Optimistic

The middle option trumps the other two.

Someone on here had a cliche about this....I have tractor head....can't think of it.

Here's to hoping everyone gets the weather they need to get 2017 off to a good start.....we'll concern ourselves about the rest of the growing season later.

            Work safe....

The part of that last post that hopes everyone gets what they're looking for isn't very "realistic"....

Ya right the weather we need, bet it pours rain on the MUD and spits on the dust... real sticky wet under the inch of dry top here. Big water seeping ruining soil with salt!

40% chance of a tenth on Monday, that is our best hope for 14 days.
every other day is 10-20 %
the only bright side is the canola in the bins.
it ain't over till the fat LADY SINGS .

but it could get real interesting .
might just be freewheats year yet

Had rainfall insurance on my grass for 8 years .Never collected once.Cancelled it for a few years. This year I put it back on thinking it will rain to make sure I do not collect.Cheap bait.

Okay, they were forecasting 2 inches for us Tues-Thurs, this morning now, TWN has just upped the amount to 4 inches!

                        Canola Prices

$11.25 triggered (yes I had a dam TPA) yesterday and I heard it did at another Co too. I think it will go higher yet. My next strike price might start with a 12.

Do you think that's in he realm of possibilities "Captain Oddball"? Yours truly, Moriarty.

                        Canola weather market?

Our area is "forecast" for rain at the beginning of next week, but I won't turn blue holding my breath in anticipation.....

Lerner is saying 5-10 mm for our area....to us that would probably result in not even settling the dust because the forecasted amounts probably won't materialize. But I am "hopeful" they do. Seeded ground could probably "take" a good splash after all those hot dry windy low humidity days. Those dry ridges between the furrows act like huge sponges.

Doesn't drive you nuts that they are saying up to four inches? I guess you can say they never warned you if it does happen!!
