Satellite gif still looks like a blocking going on....http://weather.gc.ca/satellite/satellite_anim_e.html?sat=goes&area=nam&type=1070
Surely we all can agree that a good rain kills a drought, grows a crop, but BIG water takes YEARS to go away, and for the salinity to go down. 2010 still adding to our misery, legal drainage projects over grown, barely move water. Farm is 100 acres smaller than 2009. For once rain where needed and NOT on MUD! Need some positive feelings in my late Ag career.

Without sounding cold hearted......several people drew the plight of Ft Mc. to what some Ag areas/Producers are staring in the face. I think some operations have the potential to financially lose as much as some of the poor folks of Ft Mc. I realize its not a home, but value wise, it may be no less tragic. And as fj pointed out. ...maybe no less stressful either!

If our "area" is fortunate enough to see some rain, it will be interesting to see if the system will peter out before it reaches us, splits and goes around us, simply slips past us or runs up against the imaginary barrier that wont let it advance over top of us then it just sits there and rains beside us...all like last year.

I realize a lot of you are dry... and I know it's hard ain't saying wet is worse. What I'm saying is how can we have 3 inches and you have 0. Something is bizarre. They dropped amounts to 15mm total noe but frost coming doesn't hurt us we got seeding yesterday.... but the guys who go hard started Tuesday some wheat and canola poking out already.

Our roads are complete crap. 1 semi rolled on a grid yesterday when the shoulder gave out. I can't go west road closed. Same going south. Only other way out is north to hwy 5 and goof thing we have high trucks or you'd bottom out in the 2 foot high frost boils.

Fields still saturated got stuck with a lemken then a rock picker. Harrowing to build a crust now

Like frost boils, what is that? We have never experienced that. Its hard to believe that your water table is so high because it never rained this spring and we never had any snow, did you? I guess we can't appreciate your dilemma without actually living it. We're so used to being dry as a f____. But meteorologist says its the start of our rainy season so alls good, let's hope for the best.

Klause your area had way more heavy rains and they must be still causing the mess. Our roads even #35 has gone totally to hell due to frost, my guess. Very little snow must be bad too. Good luck, don't hurt yourself or equipment. Again hard to grasp, lots of spinning but never had a tractor stuck for decades, know the land well, no bottomless subsoil, loon shit carries well, lol!

                        Tell me about it.

Drove to NB the other day it rained out there... not much, but it did... LOL.

Only rain Abbey got last summer was when Darcy and I went down to visit for a week.

Maybe I should quit farming and hire myself out as a rainman.... sure seems to follow us around.

they dropped it to 15mm in this iteration. I think weekend forcasts are whatever the computer models come up with and no human interpretation....

I cant believe how much white soil has shown up and white roads for mile long stretches. Stuff that has never been white before really good land. Bring on the rain? it makes me want to puke looking at this. The water table hasnt gone down much at all just keeps driving up the salts.

Re forecasts: I'm waiting to see.wbat Lerner has to say Monday in comparison to his Friday forecast and compared to other sources.

Remember I said I don't put too much stock in them.
Only time will reveal the outcome.

One day at a time.....in the mean we'll wait and do other things like pick rocks and honour my Mother.
We aren't that big, almost 2/3 done and its May 8th....I think I have time to be patient and hopeful.....just a little under 900 acres to go.

                              Take care.

                                Klause equals rainman.

Does no one else find that funny?
