Well what a great week to get seeding almost almost to the finish line. Today if the rain would have stayed away one more day we would be done.
Got to 96% yesterday in the rain. I was on burnt ground so straw not a problem.
Don't know how much it rained but enough.
The old timers would say so far so good, Get done seeding and get a inch of rain then another after spraying and one in July and one exhibition week and you have a bin buster. Well so far one of the 4 has materialized.
Seeding to nice firm dryer ground is wow awesome. Almost forget what it was like after so many wet years in a row it is great to see the change.
So here is the crop report.
HRS most is up or just poking out of the ground. The Early will be sprayed for wildoats and broad leaf next week. Growing just great thick and great catch. Even flooded out areas have plants.
Durum started slow and yes I should of got some better seed. Yes I make mistakes, Some times to tight is a problem. But nice rows and will be spayed first week of June. Wild oats is min but after rain will come.
Barley is up and going strong. Great catch and will be sprayed after the HRS.
Oats was taken out of rotation, if they cant pay F%^K it why grow it.
Peas would have been sprayed tomorrow if the rain event didn't happen. So far nice catch look good. Seed treatment maybe did help haven't got out to area didn't use any.
Canola is last seeded this year and all we have left is three quarters of L140. Its may not worried. Early is poking out or up and will be sprayed after the wheat. RR is not up yet seeded after L252.
So didn't finish before last year but with extra land one day later or two doesn't compare. Best seeding conditions in 15 years I would say.
So to those done relax or take a breather before spraying. Those still seeding and our area north is lots take your time be safe you still have lots of time.
Remember its just a crop and the ones at home are way more important than it.
