Friday Crop Report on a Thursday!

Well what a great week to get seeding almost almost to the finish line. Today if the rain would have stayed away one more day we would be done.
Got to 96% yesterday in the rain. I was on burnt ground so straw not a problem.
Don't know how much it rained but enough.
The old timers would say so far so good, Get done seeding and get a inch of rain then another after spraying and one in July and one exhibition week and you have a bin buster. Well so far one of the 4 has materialized.
Seeding to nice firm dryer ground is wow awesome. Almost forget what it was like after so many wet years in a row it is great to see the change.

So here is the crop report.

HRS most is up or just poking out of the ground. The Early will be sprayed for wildoats and broad leaf next week. Growing just great thick and great catch. Even flooded out areas have plants.
Durum started slow and yes I should of got some better seed. Yes I make mistakes, Some times to tight is a problem. But nice rows and will be spayed first week of June. Wild oats is min but after rain will come.
Barley is up and going strong. Great catch and will be sprayed after the HRS.
Oats was taken out of rotation, if they cant pay F%^K it why grow it.
Peas would have been sprayed tomorrow if the rain event didn't happen. So far nice catch look good. Seed treatment maybe did help haven't got out to area didn't use any.
Canola is last seeded this year and all we have left is three quarters of L140. Its may not worried. Early is poking out or up and will be sprayed after the wheat. RR is not up yet seeded after L252.
So didn't finish before last year but with extra land one day later or two doesn't compare. Best seeding conditions in 15 years I would say.
So to those done relax or take a breather before spraying. Those still seeding and our area north is lots take your time be safe you still have lots of time.
Remember its just a crop and the ones at home are way more important than it.

all done here right into weed spraying most up nice except a couple we seeded to wet (f$&king weather forecasts) .cutworms cleaned one field off of volunteers and wild oats before seeding . do you think lumiderm can handle that kind of infestation without lorsban ? first canola you can row from road . most looks quite good . our land is real clean as we spray everything in fall , but I have never saw wild oats come this bad for a long time . conditions are perfect for the seeding that's left . 20 miles north some haven't even started . the knifing in of annhydrous last fall sure helps us get going in spring . some burnt land was blowing before that last rain . hopefully they can get crop up before it starts again

All my RR has Lumiderm, Liberty doesn't. Never really seen any difference for two to three years. Experiment first year out no difference.
Burnt ground was sure nice to seed yesterday. Fall spraying and Kelly harrow Canola fields in fall sure cleans things up. Wont stop that practice. RR use in spring is lower and helps with RR resistance I feel.

Quite a change across prairies last two weeks with most areas getting moisture, more forecast.
Maybe time to change our thinking on Agriville from drought to record production.
Most crops at profitable levels, likely prudent to lock in some prices and delivery opportunities.
Never mind profits being made by speculators and grain companies, look after our own business.

I have a 50000 bus late fall contract for wheat that looks real good. Peas at 10 look real good on part production. Rest maybe will get it in the end. Barley malt is ok but not great. I love beer but the guys got to come to the plate and pay more for malt.
Canola fall contract at 11 is a good start.

            Hopalong

Record production with the same transportation system.

            2013 all over again?

As Ottawa sat on their hands and along with the railways .... did nothing to improve it for 4 years..

Grain will be pushed back on delivery to keep the prices low for producers and good margins for everyone involved after the farm gate.

If it happens again over all of western Canada our area will be the area to get no delivery options again. The grain companies will empty Alberta and Manitoba then get to Saskatchewan. We will have contracts in place with no deliveries. Great system in Canada. Planning by all in charge sweet F#$K all. Last year was awesome deliveries because of the shitty crop by some.

                  Chijuajuas chasing a greyhound bus!

We need to take over the railroads for the public good, just like highways. I am no lefty, but there has to be a strong fundamental framework for the country to run smoothly. Basic infrastructure needs stability.

This time Bucket, we should be a bit better off, cause oil and potass is laying low and we won't be sucking the hind tate.

Sure but that's no way to justify doing nothing.

Eventually this country is going to fire on all cylinders and we are not ready.

The whole point of statscan and trend monitoring is to build for the future .....it's not happening.

The excuses are shareholder ROI etc.

We are ****ed. The railways haven't hit 1 million tonnes weekly yet this year.

                    Pretty ****ed up system.
