    Expressing support for Premier Wall's position

    Before the oil wind down gets fully in the hands of those who would cut off everyone's noses to spite everyone's face ... maybe it behooves everyone to look at reality.

    It seems to me that Premier Wall shows some recognition that what "environmentalists" claim must be done will do multiple times more harm than good.

    We are not anywhere near ready for any wholesale changeover to alternate fuel sources; nor is ANYONE willing to suffer the loss of their wasteful travel and holidays; production of food through intensive fossil fuel and tillage methods and shipment to an extremely fussy cost inconscious minority consumer. Neither can the country or the economy stand the loss of jobs as Premier all has noted. Not to mention that no alternative could be ramped up for energy substitution for needs that consumers would demand.

    While there are a very few souls; who for whatever reasons that have enough conviction to carry through with their principles, the example of 150 zealots who would might organize rallies are a scary preamble to what is liable to happen with just a little more propaganda and fear mongering along the lines of humane treatment of every animal form (maybe even plants); the scariness of hormones and supplements and antibiotics; climate change (global warming); herbicides, pesticides use and on and on.

    We really do need a Premier Wall to express a bit about reality. And I'm afraid he needs some serious support.

    I support your comments but as the Raymore concrete elevator is set for demolition and the Hodgeville one should go soon as well..... premier wall will have his hands full committing funds to completely ****ed roads and highways in different constituencies.

    Just the absolute height of stupidity to allow grain cos and railways to ruin the public infrastructure that wasn't part of the railway and elevator consolidation and rationalization years ago.

    If he wants to do something environmentally friendly he should reverse the trend in the name of a strategic resource.

      And I support your pointing out that railway company interests come at the expense of captive users and the public at large.

      Same direct comparison that the strongest environmental concerns seem to come from very narrow special interest groups that couldn't ever be counted on to see the much larger picture.

      For that reason there is no way that either railway companies; nor environmentalists should have total control of hard decisions that are almost sure to someday be coming.

        the people that are close to this line need a wake up call . park some machinery on it , get in the news . bitching on here about it won't acclomplish SFA. anyone that lets a rail line go now needs a shot in the side of the head. Google thunder rail if you want to see what can be done with a shortline . 18 miles track , 2 locomotives , a new shed and shop, several employees and all necessary equipment to build and repair track , and custom repair for many other shortlines . over a thousand cars out of 3 points here .on that 18 miles . and 52 people put $2000 in to get this going , the rest has paid for itself , wake up FFS

          Not to derail the "Brad Wall Support initiative" BUT

          Under the cloak of darkness (and the claim of in the interest of safety) the CPR is actively picking off individual sidings right below the nostrils of town and rural municipal officials and elected representatives and of course the provincial government. Just remove the siding switches and connect the mainline rail straight through and there is instant and permanent rail service loss.

          And the cause is big enough that especially those ho realize the significance of this infrastructure should be as vocal as case just as.

          Shame on especially the elected representatives who apparently don't know anything about planning, asset management and retaining what will be shown as a extreme loss in the future.

          But few could care less and of course the voters deservedly get what they allow to happen.

                So the Goliath Rail Co couldn't service 18 miles cost effectively but a Shortline Co can. I seriously doubt it is a matter of cost effectiveness, but an unwillingness.

                Knocking down concrete terminals is bordering on ****ing insanity. Especially if there is/was a rail line right beside them. Sometimes you have to REGULATE stupidity, who makes these decisions and based on what criteria. Should the public good, whether it be roads and highways, safety, cost effectiveness not take precedence? Parts of the world would give their eye teeth for what this stupid ****ing nation is allowing to be systematically dismantled. Book smart but practically stupid people. I guess we're seeing the results when only shortsighted money is allowed to be the deciding factor and sole reason for the decision.

                The worst thing about this whole consolidation and rationalization fiasco is the ****ing "Dog in the Manger" attitude. ......I don't want it but you can't have it either. How many decent wooden elevators got demolished? How many sidings torn out? How many branchlines abandoned? If an elevator was sold, you weren't allowed to load cars out of it. Is the line between Sktoon and Regina not strategic.at all? So useless they let MobilGrain operate on it?
                Where's the "trucking incentive" that was meant to pass on some efficiencies to the Producers? All while the roads are pounded to shit!

                I am not against "progress" but everyone should benefit from it, not afew Grain Cos and two railroads.....

                  1. Railways are federal issue.

                  2. Can't interfere with private companies.



                  Then ask them this question.

                  Why can private companies send taxpayers the highway bill?

                      also got the ugg elevator at the same time started loading producer cars immediately . that was 1000 cars in the last year over that 18 miles and now linear grain rents the elevator and buys grain out of it .anderson grain rents the old swp elevator in the next town and loads oats and wheat cars out of it . like i said , if you guys let that line and elevators go you are crazy

                          Let's hope the new Premier in Manitoba is on the same page as Premier Wall.

                          The NDP in Alberta and Liberals in Ontario seem to think they can control the weather by taxing the hell out of their residents for anything carbon related.

                            We can all be more supportive of Sask govt research spending on carbon capture at coal fired power plants.

                              1.5 billion divided by 800000 tonnes is only 1875 a tonne.

                              In 100 years it will be affordable I guess with no operating costs factored in or roi.
