    Patience pays ...

Now that it is June , fert prices have changed - and enough to get our attention . And yes I like to wait till after harvest but ....
A few days ago the big talk was to buy now before these "cheap" prices are gone forever. Must pay ASAP and take delivery same .
One local elevator even went as far as to send out a text that said "you have till noon today, or these prices will be gone!!!"
Well , guess what , that was the alarm bell and flashing light .
Yesterday two places offered 28 -0-0 for $45 and $50 and tn cheaper with fall Delivery and even a deferred pmt till Dec for $10 / tn. Both are tempting deals. Actually on the Deffered pay I guess why wait till fall.
Now farma I can agree , I doubt it will be cheaper going foreward for the next 10 months
To those companies pushing so so hard to sandbag farmers before this - shame on you - what a blatant screw job you tried to pull.
It's kinda ironic - the same line companies that tried this stunt are the very same that come out with panic specials on grain prices - every single time you wait 2 days and guess what - prices are more than their speacial.
In a way it's a good thing - they send the signal ahead 90% of the time .

$245 for 28 was the best price quote yesterday - paid by Sept and Delivery before December.
    Very good deal IMO.
One was from the local JRI and one from Cavalier Ag. Both slightly different but both good deals.
They just made the local Cargil and P$H look like fools . I hate panic pushers , but each to their own.
$295 was the "best" deal offered by others just a few days ago if you ran to town with a cheque in your hand "before noon" lol - thanks for the heads up lol

The other day I asked the local Independant about this and he seemed oblivious......

        I use 46-0-0 as our N source.

I agree that paying now is as stupid as paying for canola seed in November or December that isn't needed til spring.

Ya , but 11 months ahead hurts far more than 6 or 5 .
I agree farma - IMO the whole Ag industry needs a kick in the balls and told to back off . We all have families to raise as farmers.
The push to suck every last cent from our pockets has reached a level that needs to be pushed back, it's completely out of hand .
This fert thing takes the cake IMO . We as farmers need to send a message.
When guys are still seeding this years crop and they create a panic like that - that's going way way too far IMO . Most guys just ignored it off or like us simply brushed it off - but even if a guy was not even remotely interested it does weigh on your mind when most of us have many other things to focus on.
After harvest is when next years inputs should start to be addressed - there is far far too many stresses during a crop year to deal with big decisions like that .

Just paid for a bunch of canola seed the other day. It's already out of the ground.
Funny, it still hurts to cut the check OUCH!

You don't have to cover all your needs but if you have storage can't see why buying a portion wouldn't be a good thought, 355 June delivered is like 12 canola your going to be in the top 90 percent of historical .

Agreed , canola seed is one input that is hurting the pocket book from the start .
Hopefully it pays off well and you get a great crop - if Mother Nature does here thing.

Canola seed is getting out of hand. Bought some nexerra from adm at $650 a bag and thought that was rediculous but got the bill for the Dekalb stuff. Approaching $700 per bag. Really? Hope lentil and pea prices stay attractive and flax picks up so guys aren't cornered into growing canola as their only cash crop like me in the rocks.

Agreed mc , actually if we don't have to pay cash till fall we are going to pull the trigger on 90% of our needs soon here
