Friday Crop Report on a Thursday!

Well I would say most are done seeding in our area. Few north still going. We seeded some Barley to dry out a area. Spraying is in full force as fricking winds are unreal this year. Not much rain this week helped land come back but damage is done.
HRS most is up and if you missed the big hail rain event you have a really decent crop. If you were hit by the shit show you have decent higher ground and yellow flats. Most have the wheat sprayed or just about finished in our area. Strong winds have made spraying a challenge. But the Case are able to go even in 70 km winds. Yea right what a crock of shit. Wheat at 4 to 6 leaf with tillers.
Nice fields a 10 poor a 6. Lots of anhydrous was leached and plants chasing nutrients. 80lbs actual plus 100 lbs blend and still yellow spots.
Durum is filling in nice now and might actually surprise. Spraying is taking place.
Barley early is a 10 and has been sprayed later is a 6 and still not sprayed.
Oats none seeded by us or just a couple by neighbours. One might be sleeper.
Peas are sprayed and dry ground look real good wet ground looks real bad. Timing of seeding also and the rain event. Sprayed next is fungicide at first flower which could be a week away.
Canola early seeded have issues lots of issues later seeded look awesome. Timing is every thing this year with Canola. Most fields are clean but Wild Oats came after the heavy rain. Flee beetles are issue but not enough to spray. Some rows are seen from road already at 100km.
Soy early seeded had issues with cool wet soil. Seeding to early can be a problem. Late seeded look good.
One Corn and it is looking decent.
Few flax you can finally see a row.
Lentils the handful that seeded look good but coming slowly.
So over all the crop with the most issues is Canola. All over the map few are 10s but lots are 4 to 6. Thinner than usual. Maybe shitty seed from Alberta as its smaller and maybe not as strong vigor. Just saying we farmers pay big dollars for this shit and some times were getting taken. Seed treatment is a Fricking joke you also pay huge dollars for snake oil.
So spraying is taking place like I said most are done seeding and pastures look like a 8 hay a 9.
Hopefully the wind slows down and the rain stays away and all will be great.
Stay safe and remember the ones at home are way way more important than any Crop that the companies are just going to take.
    Farm progress next week enjoy.

Peas are the best I have ever had.think a normal amount of peas maybe a bit less acres in our area.Lentils lentils everywhere.the guys better have a contract and the companies contracting better not default or there will be one big wreck.Crops coming fast and spray is working very good.Grass and hay field got new life and jumped. Will be early hayang. Will be hooking on camper and boat in 10 days.

At this point....better than last year!

Joked with the kid that the peas, that haven't even flowered yet, are already taller than what we harvested last year.

Seems to be a fair bit of tan spot in fields with cereals every second year in the rotation. Most everything got a shot(varying rates) of fungicide with the herbicide.

Lentils look really nice, fricken 252 canola slow going. Had a halo or burnt edge all the way around. Showed agrologist she said thats caused by too rapid of an uptake of Proper seed treat. What a fricken joke no flea beatle pressure or cutworms, like most other crops would prefer zero seed treat. It definetely set it back at least a week, its just starting to feel better.

crops are really good here, all canola can be seen from road , some flea beetles like you say but not enough to spray . spraying is about 75 % done here I would think . rain and hail did some damage on about 25% of our acres . just have a quarter each of flax and oats and a couple quarters of canola left to spray . lumiderm came shining through again .many times I found a canola plant chewed off and dead cutworm in close proximity . we actually have a couple quarters that need a drink , but I am NOT asking for any , lol. alfalfa starting to bloom a
ready , leafcutters are going to have lots to eat .

the "club" may get something like aim command someday , then you will be able to spray in 70 km winds also , lol. we don't have it , but sure looks like a good system to me .

Biglentil, we experienced the halo effect as well but canola didn't slow down growing. In fact, we found the best flea beetle deterrent since the Counter days. The beetles didn't even nibble, no shot holes yet they chewed on wild buckwheat.

I haven't seen my crops since the weekend but when I finished spraying there the Barley was starting to joint and looked good except for the 40ac the lid was open on the phos tank. Peas had the stuble covered and looked really good. Mustard was about 10" tall and almost had the ground covered. Lentil looked good about 6" tall, maybe a little thin. Up north here I finished seeding the organic crop on Saturday and it's all up in 2-3 days and looking good. Canola is OK but not impressive. Same for lentils. Peas and wheat look good. Flax planted after the rain looks fantastic. Crops at arelee and Cando will need a shot of rain soon.

Still waiting for rain up here in the NE, crops look good better than last year but still patchy germ with no rain. Few guys reseeding Canola due to bug damage.
