Well said JD, all damage to our crops was NEVER acknowledged, and it feels like hell to have to bring it to otherwise good neighbors attention. Always ended that they are ASHAMED and willing to make right, but still the VICTIM should not have to start the conversation. Just call Klause and that will be most important step.

Thanks guys. I will find out who farms it (new iron this yr don't know whose). It's less than an ac so I don't need insurance involved but do want to make it right

I don't spend a lot of time closely looking at my neighbors crops, so if I accidentally had some spray drift on the neighbors, I might not know.

So sometimes it is not that the neighbors are trying to hide the fact as much as they probably don't even know. Not everyone spends all their time looking at their fields and even less looking at the neighbors fields.

I agree if you notice that you drifted onto a neighbours field - you need to tell your neighbour and take it from there... given the area involved here it is pretty simple offer to pay for damage; I personally would just ask you to remember this in the event that I make the same mistake another year. I do not drive around the country to look if I drifted onto a neighbour because I never spray in a situation I think could cause harm to a neighbouring field - therefore if a neighbour notices something I do not - I want him to call me and I would head out and look and then discuss it with them and arrive at a solution.

Admitting to a mistake or accident is the best way to go, it with sit better with your conscience.

One time I hit a neighbors crop as it was just peaking through the ground. We didn't really get along that great before and I was alittle apprehensive. But I went and saw him and told him we were seeding the field I had burned off the next day and I would reseed as far into the field as there was damage. He grumbled and agreed. It was the best crop by far on his farm. He was happy and it didn't cost me much.

I agree with the other posters. Make a call. Offer to make it right in the fall. Best for everyone.

I have a neighbor who is a huge loose cannon. Unhinged. Hes attacked people. Hes taught me insurance every time baby. CYA. Carryover next year??? Signed releases.
I also have a neighbor seems to get away with anything he wants. Luckily old fencelines still intact there.

I would want a neighbor to tell me so I could learn from it as well as look each other in eye later.
