    Agriville Community

There are frequent posters and people who seldom post and people who read but don't post anything.
All serve a purpose. I encourage anyone who only reads the threads to join in and start posting. Diversity is good, and we don't have to all agree. Other's opposing opinions hopefully encourage us to think outside the boundries of what we think is right. Critical analysis and thinking is better than always thinking the status quo is always right...even if it falls well within our own ideology.

People come and go but when long time posters go missing for an extended period of time you have to wonder why. Did they get bored/tired with it,
personality conflicts, opinions too hard to accept, health issues, or just moved on.

As for myself, I've enjoyed it here. I enjoy the diversity of people and opinions. In saying so thanks to everyone for tolerating me. I definitely never always agreed with everyone's opinion but each has a right to their own. I wonder how long I would have lasted if the website was based on the series "Survivor". Survivor Agriville...stayed tuned
to see who gets voted off the site.

Take care, I hope everyone finds what their looking for, but there is lots to enjoy while searching.

We have had some characters on here and all diversity has been enjoyable and informative. I gotta say some of us are addicted. I come here first for the news, weather report, rain reports, marketing and buying tips, and most of all the commaraderie. Where else can dirt diggers get their jollies? Can't forget the Thursday feed from SF3. We all have visions of how each one looks, what kind of neat farms or other we run. Wouldn't it be cool to organize an AV farm tour bus. The travelling road show!

Anonymity: part of me says who cares if people know who I am, yet I still enjoy the partial anonymity I have. I've posted my cell number before. And from what I can gather, some other members have some non-site interaction with each other. Some, but very few, are comfortable enough to use their names. The usernames are amusing at times,  some are kind of self explanitory and some you have to wonder why they created the one they did.

I would suspect some people would never post under their own names. Because the site is likely monitored by creepers and lurkers, because I think the opinions are a true barometer of topics, anonymity may protect the contributors from persecution. Being opinionated, vocal and
outspoken can have its drawbacks, without any or alot of diplomacy applied.

I do enjoy the semi anonymity here. In an earlier life I've had death threats and property threats (we'll burn you out). Bothered me little but it's very hard on the rest of the family.

The thing that usually makes me take a vacation from the site is racist comments towards First Nations.

Also, as I like positive attitudes there are times when I don't read all the posts. I'm a farmer. I love what I do. If wanted to rich quick I'd look for something else. But, I wouldn't be happy.

So, everyone here is entitled to their opinion. The fact that they can be expressed here without fear of prison, disappearing, etc helps realize I live in the right country.

Started following to learn more about commodity marketing....

Really though, the forum has given me a lot of ideas and projects to work on. I really appreciate
          that.

And I enjoy the mishmash that is the commodity marketing forum.

                  I enjoy it.
I do not think anyone really changes
their general opinion. but it is nice to get some different views .

critical thinking needs differing opinions . and you have it here.

it helps ,business wise, because we are too busy working to keep up with things.
an ear to the ground on grain . price,
                  fert chem use and experience.

                  helps prevent backyard itis .
and it wastes less time than a daily trip to the coffee shop would.

partial anonymity, is good, folks can speak their mind without fear of being bullied or beat up on.

I mostly creep on here and rarely comment. As a retired farmer and semi-retired person I enjoy the topics and the comments. I usually don't post as i don't feel i should as i have no skin in the game and having not been farming for six years now i have nothing really relevant to contribute.
On other topics not to do with farming there is a reason i have no facebook account i tend to go wild with comments on topics i feel strongly about and would probably be banned as quickly as BTO if i got into it.
I do enjoy all the reports of what is going on in farming in different parts of western Canada and of course down under.
Finally i have nothing but respect for each and every one of you on here. I don't think i could farm in todays world i just couldn't mentally handle the size of farming operations especially the amount of money you need to get things done. You all have my respect

I do enjoy the posts and variety of opinions as well. Similar, I started by wanting to know more about prices and commodity futures education. It became and far more diverse forum. There is tonnes of information and far more insightful than the coffee shop. I learn more about a cross section of Sask ag instead of only the 30 km radius.
I appreciate the posters and their ability to debate sensibly. We are all just trying to make a living and do the best we can. Not everything goes as planned and it helps to know how to adjust.

National Post - Rex Murphy on Brexit this morning if you wanna see lively comments -and they use their real names. I don't think that's all that wise.

Ah Shit gosh darn Crap cant you morons do anything right.
Its a fun site. Yes Some of us text talk or visit on a regular basis.
Hell I even have one of my long time enemies from years ago on my personal Facebook account.
See its a great big farming world. Information of any kind is a great tool. Yes some times it gets out of hand and yes like anything shit happens. But even if all you get is a little insight into what's happening further than 30km away from your farm its been a great learning tool.
Hell Ill even admit that the Palliser Triangle can grow Big Great Crops. JD that's for you. HA HA HA
Yes even BTO is fun to have around some times he goes over the edge and he takes a vacation.
I hope the move to the new sight goes great and we continue to have Banter back and forth.
I still say they don't pay us farmers enough and the Middle man always does better, The ones at home are more important than any crop and Rain in excess really sucks.
But what a life hey wouldn't change it for anything.
Off to a Auction maybe a Rumley kind of a Day!

I was a long time listener for a couple years and then just lately thought what the hell I can post too. Some awesome info and discussion. Still new to the game by some of your guys standards (age) but have done it long enough to know some stuff. I like the ability to talk to other farmers rather than the guys trying to sell you something. Which sale are you going to SF3?

I read the topics for the same reasons as Sawfly. I don't join in very much for the poor excuse of being busy and a slow typer.
When I picked my name I got frustrated that everyone I picked was taken, so I picked the name that was on my boat when I bought it.
