As you may know I will be the first to admit we shouldn't count our chickens before they hatch, but if crops finish as strong as they look now, we are in for some big volumes this fall.
With the FairRail for Grain Farmers Act extended, is it actually going to make a difference in grain movement this fall and winter? Will a tough winter wreak havoc? As some contributors suggest, will areas closer to port be serviced first? Will a lack of sales, particularly canola to China, disguise itself as poor rail movement? Will congested inland terminals and no delivery opportunity against contracts be the norm for the upcoming marketing year? Will basis be extra wide to discourage pricing grain and moving grain into a congested system with possibly no sales to buyers(not grain "handlers" but users)?
We will see if the system has learned anything from the last wreck. I just hope we, as Producers, don't have to pay for their "education" again.
