In the future Klause, you may want to use bumper and not hummer and please don't tell us when we are about to get one. Some of us are older and kinda like the surprise.

That's as innocuous as I can be.

Trip to Edmonton for ft Mac benefit concert. Crops looking alright around home but sure notice how they get thinner or later the further west you go. Kitscotty west the canola throwing flowers but is thin and patchy. If they get rain it might be okay and same with late stuff but early cereals are average at best. Travelled hwy 14 and marsden west is late and some rough stands but by Wainwright there are some nice looking stands. Really everything is all over the place. It all depended if you got that extra shot or two of rain early June.

All that is needed is a couple percent surplus and the whole production loses much greater value.

The question is what the price prospect is at each higher level of bumper crop (or hummer if one prefers)?

Did a couple road trips.contracted what I want to move in 2016 today.I do not see a huge amount of peas but canola durum and lentils.I think movement on contracted will be good but buyers will be taking advantage of farmers wanting to sell grain this fall and no preharvest contract.

Nothing worse than being sodomized by the market after you get a hummer, kinda takes away the pleasure of getting one!

Ok so hummer means something naughty to the older generation?

                I'm lost here.

If you don't know what a hummer is you're not getting them.
Cut across from maymont to jackfish, it's mostly peas in that country and they look good. I already have 20bpa locked in over $10, in thinking about doing another 10 while they are still over $9.

                    Observation:

The process of transpiration is still balanced in our canola crop....meaning it can still take in enough water during the heat of the day to prevent wilting. Mind you, it hasn't been real hot yet either.
Fungicide timing is going to be tricky because after seeding it was hot dry and windy, then it rained, and everything didn't come up all at once. According to main stem flower count...some barely 10% and some at 50%. Oh well could have been alot worse!

Compared to last year....peas are insane! I hope they stay standing.

Wheat/durum is real nice, clean of disease and fuzz app timing will be easier as it is more uniform. Never saw any midge yet. Even the sandiest of the sandy spots (not too many) are "okay" for what they are.

To realize the full potential of the crop we will be hoping for one more decent drink before the bar closes too.

What a difference a year can make.

Pea crops look swell here. Some have noticed disease and spraying is ongoing. Moisture is decent and heat and wind is keeping canopies dried enough to slow down disease. I checked my wheat but no sign of disease in the flag yet. It all looks so good but I never forgot that August monsoon that turned 60 bu pea crops into 6bu ones. It's a long time before we get it in the bin. Anything can happen.

As Mrs. Brown would say, "frick" off furrow. Just kidding. I can even hear her accent and sarcasm when she says "that's nice...."
