The Alberta Grain Commission is a source of weekly feed grain price information. This price information is collected each Monday morning through a survey of feedmills and feedlots. These prices are reported for seven locations in the province: Lethbridge, Calgary, Edmonton, Vermilion, Grande Prairie, Red Deer, and Brooks. Brooks is a recent addition to the survey, a valuable addition, because of the large amount of livestock feeding (and therefore, feed buying) in the area.

The feed grain price report provides a range of prices for feed wheat, oats and barley. Additionally, the Alberta Grain Commission has recently begun to collect prices for feed peas. Effective February 16, feed pea prices will be reported for those locations with sufficient buyers to calculate a range.

The Alberta Grain Commission's feed grain price is located at: http://www.agric.gov.ab.ca/economic/stats/feedgr.html

The Alberta Grain Commission would appreciate any feedback you might on the prices we put out daily (country buying prices, crusher prices etc.) and weekly (feedgrain feedmill/feedlot prices). These are often quoted on your radio station, or you can phone a phone recording, or you can find them on the Internet (if you don't know to get them, just ask me!). Are these prices of use to you? Are they practical? <pr> For example, on the phone tape we give open futures prices in the morning on our phone-in tape. We are considering cancelling these because we question whether they are of any value. Do you pay attention to opening futures? If you would rather phone me or Julie, you can reach us at the Alberta Grain Commission in Edmonton at (780) 427-7329.
