Moisture Situation

Below are links to the moisture situation for Canada and the USA.

The Canadian one is published by PFRA, and the US one by USDA.

Can anyone tell me if these maps are ones the trade uses for guidance?

Also, I am wondering how accurate they are? Do any Agrivillers have any comments on how well the PFRA reflects their region?

For US moisture conditions, I like the Palmer Drought Index Forcast site better... have a look at;

It looks like PRFA is reasonably close, in the Edmonton area as far as our farm goes...

We have potholes where they have not been for many years, a big run off a week ago... good to see mud again!

Tom, you said, "...good to see mud again." The Bow Island area (between Taber and Medicine Hat Alberta) got seven-tenths of rain over the weekend. Apparently, some of the farmers there like mud too much for their own good - there are stories of stuck tractors belonging to guys who just couldn't wait any longer to get on the land! Some fields of sugar beets and potatoes are already in the ground in that area!
