Weber's commentary is absolutely on the mark. By refusing to offer even the smallest concession on the single desk issue, such as allowing exemptions for processing co-ops, or sensibly structured non-pool pricing options, the CWB long ago shot itself in both feet, and then both legs and recently seems to be targeting more vital organs.

I doubt that Wilagro's comments are unique; many erstwhile single desk supporters are being turned off by the CWB's single-minded pursuit of burning bridges instead of building them.

The CWB has never been proactive in winning the support of farmers; any of their paltry "reforms" have always been initiated belatedly, grudgingly and only undertaken, it seems, after some crisis has forced their hand.

One of the reasons Anderson understands the CWB so well is due to the assistance of one Randy Hoback. Former WCWGA chair.

A new Ag Minister can easily lose his way. sumdumguy notes that the bureaucracy continues to be filled with counterworking Liberals. just_wondering leaves us thinking the guys at the top don't really know what's going on anyhow.

Maybe we need to do as Weber suggests.

        Choose carefully.

        That leaves #3.

reading with interest the situation in canada it parallels australia east v west and an agrarian socialist party peopled by politicians of incredible ignorance.
barley in south australia has finally been deregulated and we are now offered prices similiar to victoria at port barley has traded approx $25au below wheat in a free environment yet with a single desk for wheat $225au pool when the world says $300aut today. barley hit $276 au t today in pt lincoln.
can those against choice and freedom of the individual explain a $75t hit is beneficial to growers .

Maybe it did.The scandle with AWB was made possible because of Access to Information.
For the first time in its history the cwb will now have to answer ATI requests. In the dark for 70 years.
I can hardly wait to hear the Real Dirt on the secret activities and spending there.

I don't think the CWB-Iraq investigation has even started.

              Yet.
