FRANSISCO,
Vader sure had a quick response to his topic/thread... I guess when the kitchen gets too hot...just get rid of the kitchen!
Vader is a brave guy... to post what he did... the Billions he claims the CWB gains growers through pooling... is quite a claim... one I am certain will NOT stand up to the test of time and close inspection!
I just finished reading my AU marketing letter... and this where long term marketing strategy has shown best returns:
"So, here is what I reckon we would have done on November
1st, compared to the best strategy;
Interestingly since 1997 there have been
• 4 years when we should have just sold for cash at the
end of November.
• 3 years when we should have stored for later sale with
no swap coverage
• 4 years when we should have stored and covered that
wheat with March swaps.
The trick is to try and pick which way to go before we know
how it will all turn out! ie could we pick at the end of
November that selling for cash was the thing to do in 2000
and 2006? And should we have delivered to the pool in any
of those years and how could we have picked that?
The four things to look at are
• The cash price on offer
• The basis on offer (ie difference between US futures
and the cash price
• The futures price and projected move in prices.
• Pool Return
Basically the pool is the best return in only 4 of the 11
years. However, if we look at the pool versus November
cash prices we find the pool is ahead in 6 of the 11 years
and basically equal to the cash price in another 3 years. ie
at November in 9 out of 11 years the pool was a good
alternative. The 2002 and 2006 droughts were the only
years that cash did better than the pool.
We have long pointed out that drought years are the only
years when harvest cash prices outperform the pool. In SA
2007 was the exception to that but fortunately we were able
to pick up on that and switch to recommending the pool.
For cash to get ahead of the pool we need to store for later
sale. That shifts the cash from being better in just 2 years
out of 11, to 4 years out of 11 with 2007 being the best
example. Basically for storing to beat the pool we need the
international market to lift strongly post harvest, which it
did in both 2005 and 2007."

Looks like an agenda has been exposed.
So much for free flow information and debate.
Looks like i'm going to have mass harass the companies that advertise on this site.
I suggest anybody else that thinks this is fascist do the same.

Dear BASF/pioneer/farms.com,etc
There is some deeply disturbing things going on at a well knowen western canadian ag chat/website that should be brought to your attention, seeing as how you spend some advertising dollars there.
The owner/operators of agriville.com have taken it upon themselves to censor what is being discussed. They seem to be promoting an anty cwb stance.
Although not a board supporter myself, the slippery slope of censorship deeply disturbs me and probably alot of other readers.
I hope it doesnt come to boycotting the products you advertise but this must stop.
I hope you see fit to put "pressure" on these people to abide by our fundemental freedom of speech.
yours truly,
cottonpicken
p.s-i doubt it would take to many farmers to hit your bottom line
Just a ruff draft i will have to work on it.

I imagine Joe Dales will answer this but posting copywrited articles to any web site has potential legal implications. No web site owner wants to have, at the very least, a nasty letter from a lawyer land on his desk or, at the worst, a summons to appear before a judge to answer a civil copywrite infringement suit. Pasting a copywrited article to a web site is risky from the web owner's point of view.
One more thing, cottonpicken, please watch your language. Freedom of expression is not an absolute!

By the way this site is private property, the owners of it can do as they wish with it. Only governments can be Fascist when it comes to freedom of speech and censorship.
As to copyrighted material agstar some folks choose to exercise their copyright, some don't. There is also something called fair use which comes into play, it means that you can use some but not all of the said material.
Another way around it is simply linking to the article on it's own website.

No, because the CWB is not a private citizen or a private company it is a creation of and a part of government.
That is why Adrian Measner was perfectly free to say whatever he wanted as Adrian Measner private citizen, but not as Adrian Measner CWB CEO.
