No body told me that part of my job farming was to subsidize my neighbors. Now that I have been enlightened I will be lowering the value of what I sell to my feed customers by 10 to 20%. While I live in oil rich Alberta, I haven't had the luxury of making so much money that I've had lots to share around.When I have I have chosen to support community and charity. Can't figure out where that term greed keeps coming up in farming. Thought we were just trying to make a living.

To the guy that sold that seed, you better have your jail bag packed because the law is ucomin aknockin and probably at 3 am.
We lost this fight in the early to mid 90's. We were told by the high court of Manitoba, the law is the law, go see parliament. We have voted in change and boy has that work well!!!!
From the mid 90's I've had this heat from my better half about this issue. What she says is STOP GROWING IT, stop feeding the beast. In about 2000 I got my act together and finally took a stand and I stopped growing cwb products. I'm not 100%, but out of the 7 I've had 4yrs cwb free and out of the other 3yrs only about 5-10% trickled in. One thing for sure, board lovers can,t make you grow it, I hope. To you board lovers, the system needs to change, it's old. The idea of pooling is ok, but the monopoly is not. If you kept digging in your heels, the whole think at 423 main is coming down.

Rolf Penner- On Agriville today someone who goes by the name of Agstar claims that there is a seed grower somewhere in Western Canada who sold 130 loads of “seed” wheat into the US for $24 a bushel which he had bought for $16 from his neighbors. Apparently this seed grower may face legal action for having done this.

She is right , the CWB does not enforce the rules, Canada customs does. Why do you suppose Rolf Penner is interested? Is it because he is a great CWB supporter or is he fishing? If this is correct it could cause major headaches for all seedgrowers not just those that play fast and loose with rules. Could it be that customs has not been quite as rigorous in checking documents, because they don't want to antagonize their bosses or maybe they have more pressing problems?

I am somewhat confused here...

If Vader... or Stewart Wells sold their wheat for $24/bu... or some seed growers sold their wheat... or Adam Smith sold his 'feed wheat' for $24/bu... SO WHAT?

DID these seed sales slow down CWB shipments during the highest wheat prices in history? WELL NO... they did not... yet the Organic sales during this same period... well could have cost us capacity in the western Canadian system!

The folks in Creston B.C. have sold to the US... since 1982... with no-cost export licenses... just signed a stat. dec. and shipped... to their hearts content... And the CWB's justification for allowing this was... get this... POOR ELEVATOR/RAIL SERVICE. 'Designated area' wheat/Barley grain exempt the CWB POOL... because they got I will say it again... in case you missed it the first time...POOR ELEVATOR/RAIL SERVICE.

SO Agstar77... why don't the feed mills buy their feed wheat back from the CWB... at a buyback $45/t higher than #1 milling wheat... yet it is just fine with you that these multi-nationals/Co-ops/whoever are given no-cost export licenses... for their manufactured feed exports that would cost me or you...over $300/t to ship the same volume of wheat to the US?

And why exactly would wheat produced in Dryden Ont. or Rainy River Ont.... that could have brought $24/bu... at the same time as I tried to get my export license... how was the price inside Canada... any less... and the pecuniary benefit any less owing to the CWB... for the Ontario or B.C. wheat... as Section 46 of the CWB Act specified? Same goes for the Organic wheat Vader or Stewart Wells could have sold for the $3.32/t cost export license!

Why does the CWB exempt any of this wheat? Why is it the CWB's Opinion... that any and or all of this wheat... of which all of this wheat is produced in Canada... and in legal jurisdiction of the CWB Licensing Dept... WHY does not matter or affect CWB Marketing in the 'opinion' of the CWB?

How can they be itimidated if they did nothing wrong? T4, you know that wheat sold outside the pool without a buyback. costs the pool as the CWB might have made that sale. Was there a buyback , good question.
