    Agri-ville Guidelines and Responsibilities

    Hi Everyone:

I respond to all of the complaints that are sent to me regarding the posts on Agriville and use my best judgement on how to handle them.

The complaints range from swearing and inappropriate language which I some times remove while leaving the rest of the message...repeat offenders have been warned once in a while and they usually clean up the language.

I also get more serious complaints about personal attacks and threats aimed at individuals which have legal consequences and I address them - often removing the inappropriate materials.

We also have to watch posting of copyrighted materials on Agri-ville...

I hope this helps you understand how and when we might be involved with the postings on Agriville.

I have added in the Use Guidelines again for everyone.

Maybe its time to go back to only writing letters to the editor of major credible newspapers. There you stick your neck out and clearly identify where the authorship lies. I've always had great respect for all those people; regardless of there opinions.
It wasn't just vaders post that was removed; it was also all the other replies to his post. As was pointed out in those replies; one of the lapses in judgement is to not clearly identify who and for what purpose you are using another persons words.
"Hiding behind aliases" can be viewed as a cowards way of expressing your opinion. If only we could respect another persons right to their opinion; and let the debate rage freely; then even the alias system would work credibly.
We all have written words we would like to take back. Vader isn't the only one who should have that ability. There's also a post back about Jan 26 that was totally offensive to "the few rich farmers"; "raging masses' etc. etc.
I also can't find a very recent post about 130 truckloads of grain purportedly sold into the USA for seed. Did it get censored too; or is my blood pressure just too high this morning.
Censorship invovles more that just covering up mistakes; errors and lapses in judgement. It deserves a full debate in itself.

      Checking,

      You mean this one?

Agstar77; What are you doing at seeding?

"If you are the seed grower Who has exported 130 loads of so-called seed wheat, you might be in court. Apparently a an American trucking firm was hired and wheat was shipped as seed to the U.S. for 24 a Bus. and bought for 16, from local farmers."

Checking... I believe Joe and the moderators have done a reasonable job... and I thank them for spending the time and energy to allow us to think through things... on line... if you really like a post you read... cut and paste it into a word document... and that way you can save it for yourself for as long as you like!

Again... thanks to farms.com... and all those who make this a great privilege... it is not a right to have this Agriville 'blog'... it is a privilege.

      Happy 'checking'!

It's important that Agri-ville users remember that Charlie and I volunteer as moderators. We do this with the full knowledge or our manager even though some or the work is done during work time.

Our gain is learning what a group of producers is thinking about marketplace policy and marketing strategies. We think the trade off between time spent and what we learn makes it worthwhile. However, I will confess that at times we feel very frustrated with the negativism of some of the posts. If I were to take the late Ken Logan's advice - my wife's uncle but now deceased and a very successful farmer and past president of South West Terminal - who always said 'Don't waste your time around negative people' - I'd have stopped being a moderator long ago.

Tom4cwb, thanks for your kind words. Your freshly printed $50 bill is in the mail.

Lee, I respect what your're saying, but I think unless you are an ACTUAL PRODUCER, it is hard to undestand what we the producers go through.

Lots of people on this site are very smart on what the farmer needs to do to make money, and yet they don't grow one bushel of grain.

I get very passionate about CWB discussions, no different if I were talking to the person face to face, because it's MY MONEY paying for Agstar, and Vader to sit on their computer to write on this website.

Until it's your money they're screwing with....... Tough to have an opinion.

This WAS a free country, the last time I checked. Maybe something changed overnight, the internet censorship law, what a joke. Banishment, cause of swearing and joking around, yeah right. What next, no racy pics on the interweb, no missinformation allowed. The missinformation highway, will come crashing down, the end is near. Forget global warming. Canadian/comedian censorship, is the real threat to the free world oops sorry about that another useless rant! Attempt to be funny, that got me banned too, a while ago. What a farce, Angriville at its worst, censorship, in the hands of a private entity! Farmers angry at one another, not likely to happen, cause we country folk all git along sooo well......

You have never and will never pay me to post on this site, snappy, I do it because I am concerned for the future of our industry and country. Whether I am right or wrong at least we can have the discussion.
