    Seeding

How far north is the seeding going on in Alberta and Sask?

At Fort Saskatchewan, we are 1/3 done, which is probably average for the area. Still bales to be made and picked up in some fields. Soil surface moisture about the same as last year, but a little warmer. A few pot holes to go around.

I always find year to year comparisons interesting. How does this year compare to last in other areas? In another thread, Crusher commented on switching at least some canola into barley. Is this happening in other areas?

Feed grains is a market I would really watch over the next while. I think there is possibility (assuming better weather, more acres and higher yields) we could see Alberta feed barley prices in the $2 to $2.50/bu range this fall. That compares to $4/bu just this last fall.
