Should note that DHC prices may not be as available as indicated above. Can find domestic malt barley (available to domestic brewers for a 90 day pricing period) and durum but not wheat ex durum. Maybe someone else has a published source.

      Fransisco:

Your comments prove you are a poor marketer. Yes I agree the basis levels were the worst ever, but you are only looking at one half of the equation.

When the hedge funds drive the futures markets up and beyond tradeable cash values, the basis obvious needs to widen out. Plus with $1.20/bu limit moves in the market it wasnt only the CWB that widen out their basis or pulled out of the market entirely, i.e. Cargill USA.

Back to my original point, even though the basis was at 30 under, you could still have locked in your 2008 wheat at 447/tonne.

Perhaps you will be more happy with a plus 25 basis and a 250 futures, and then go brag at the coffee shop about your great basis level.

          Scarey?

And here I thought the marketing department had flatlined and died, but then I was just judging by performance.

What I didn't realize, until you referred to "scarey", is that deadbeats eat their own.

Full from dinner, are you Grainbeetle?

            Fransico:

As Charlie pointed out, the CWB does publish historical basis and CDN/US converted futures values.

However, I'm looking at how to market my flax, rye, peas, mustard, canola, chickpeas, lentils, soybeans and alfalfa seed, and would like to study each grain company's historical cash bids, but cant find them on line.

Can you provide me with these links, i've googled it, but cant seem to find their historic farmer bid data.

            Thanks
            GB

The CWB has been forwarded your threatening remarks, i.e your references to "DECEASED: marketing department.

You truly are a scary and frightening being.

Well grainbeetle, we don't want you piddling the bed, tonight, now do we.

So here's the previous post...to the one to which you are referring,... that leaves you huddled, cowering in a corner.

The postings start from the top and work down.

Try to follow them with your finger.

They make more sense if you don't read them from bottom to top, or from right to left.

Panic attacks are truly debilitating to some folks.

I thought when the CWB said they were working flat out, they meant they were working hard.

GB if you have been following my posts on agriville you would have noticed I have provided lots of links to different information sources particularly related to board crops.

I'm not going to hold your hand and do all of your homework for you. The information is out there, if you truly want it you can find it.

Let me share two of those links again

                      1. http://www.mgex.com/history/historical_new.cfm

                      2. http://wbc.agr.mt.gov/Producers/pricing_current.html

And surprise, surprise you can get the raw data, in excel, going back to the days of Moses.

So when I say worst basis ever, I am not just saying compared to what the board has offered in the past but also against what everybody else is offering.

Yes, other companies have had wide basis levels as well, but the boards is pretty much always wider.

I know it a difficult thing to grasp GB but part of marketing is knowing what others are offering at the same time and then going with the best deal.

In an open market how much grain do you think the board would be moving today at these basis levels?

I'll give you a hint, its a round number.
