    Australia/Argentina? What about CANADA!

As I am reading this mornings market news its just amazing how all I read is about how crops are doing in USA and ARGINTINA AND AUSTRALIA. Never ever one report about CANADIAN Wheat crop. Here is an example
Wheat looks ready for more gains overnight, as traders wonder just how real this rally is. On the one hand, the rising price of corn makes wheat more valuable, if only as a feed grain. But there are also concerns that all the rains could hurt the quality, and perhaps the quantity, of the 2008 harvest.

Indeed, many member how rains hurt the 2007 crop in Kansas; they’re fearing a replay this morning, with heavy rains seen on the radar screen. Storms are expected to move into the eastern Midwest this morning, perhaps threatening the soft red winter wheat crop.

That threat likely won’t be picked up by Tuesday’s updated production estimate out of USDA, which is expected to show bigger winter wheat yields. Overall ending stocks also should also work higher by 15 to 20 million bushels.

Elsewhere around the world, production is still on track to show a big increase. Rains in the past 24 hours fell in many areas of Australia missed last week, helping farmers trying to finish up planting and keeping hopes for a good crop on track. Argentina also picked up some light rains over the weekend.
So all this talk about these two countries makes me wounder did the CWB sell us a good snow job that we some how are king in wheat, when were not even ever mentioned in the media how the crop is doing. Were suppose to be King for Durum (the CWB tells US) yet we get third world prices for our product.
Every day its how the wheat crop is in Australia (not even planted and they were talking record production) and Argentina. I think western Canadian farmers have to seriously look into this organization and its impact on Canadian farmers bottom line.
IF were not even mentioned weekly then maybe were not even in the game. Or do we have certain countries that were just suppliers for set prices and then the rest of our production doesn't effect world supply. Where as Australia and Argentina crop has meaning on world stage.
EX warbiton Guaranteed supply for cheap price. I don't know just wondering.
    Any comments.

I guess what I am asking is are we like supply management for certain countries and companies but without the price support.
We keep producing a product that the CWB Gives (sells) to certain countries year in year out for a undisclosed amount. All are winners.
    1. The Buyer - Cheap price and abundant supply.
    2. The grain companies - Just run it up the leg and that it profit.
    3. The railways, charge what ever because their land locked.
    4. The Canadian consumer - cheap bread, its given away like a glass of water at every restaurant.
    5. Workers- We let them create such a bureaucracy that their is now more of them than actual farmers. CGC CWB Elevator co, longshoreman etc.
HM as a bottom feeder in the world of grain when do we get our day in the sun.
    Answer is never.

The best is yet to come. Sometime in feb 09 bruce burnett will come out with a report like this-

"the 08 crop had its difficulties right from the beginning, inadequate snowfall and lack of spring rains reduced the crop potential. The crop was smaller than we anticipated because more farmers switched to high priced pulses and oilseeds. Our final numbers indicate a smaller crop than 07 ....."

And his dribble will continue at 100 k a year.

Canada is the walmart of grain pruchasing - good quality and lowering prices everyday.

Its called incompetence. Every other business model can look at their costs and recoup them. Not with these buffoons. Just give it away. Its idiotic.

Don't be to concerned about nobody watching our crops. How exactly - do you think Algeria buys cheap durum all the time. They have better Canadian crop scouting than the cwb. They knew when to buy last year.

I told the 800# pee-ons that this was the driest seeding conditions I have seen in over 10 years - They just thought I was stupid and started telling me about record world production. Australia - 3 years of drought -2 inches wont refil the subsoil. But a bumper is on its way.

      remember this word. INCOMPETENCE

I agree the guys and gals at the CWB just don't get what the heck is happening in the world. They have certain clients that they call and make sales to, then the last little morsel that isn't taken by these special clients is sold on world market.
They miss it every year. And 07 will go down as the GREAT CANADAIAN WHEAT BOARD SCREW UP!
