CWB WINS

"CWB versus Attorney General Canada re: advocacy and CEO compensation
The Federal Court of Canada has overturned the Government of Canada’s advocacy directive. The Order in Council (OIC), issued in December 2006, prevented the CWB from spending money to advocate retention of the single desk.

The federal court issued its ruling June 19, 2008. Mr. Justice Roger Hughes said the government’s directive was issued for an improper purpose and that that it contravenes the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. He said the CWB’s board of directors, not the government, is responsible for overseeing the expenditures of the organization." - CWB

So there you have it as quoted from the CWB site.

Harper's government stymied again in its heavy-handed approach to CWB reform.

Dictatorships are hard to crack, but when they do fall, and they will, it will be a good day for malt barley producers.

        wilagro,

I am eating steamed crow for lunch with no damn ketchup.

And then on top of that, I have a bitter pill to swallow.

And besides, you probaly wouldn't even buy me a beer if we were at the same bar, especilaly when you saw I also wear felt socks.

Enjoy your day, wilagro, and I mean that.

parsley: Of course I would buy you a beer. I have no reason to hate you...you are most likely a fine individual. Hell, I might even spring for champagne.

p.s. I hear that crow is tough and stringy...maybe a little tenderizer would help.

Court quashes dad's grounding of 12-year-old daughter

A father plans to appeal after a Quebec court ruled that he didn't have the right to punish his 12-year-old daughter by barring her from a school trip.

Quebec Superior Court Judge Suzanne Tessier ruled Friday that the girl should be allowed to attend the three-day trip within Quebec this week.
