If you asked Mugabe... I am sure he would tell you he was just 'being fair'... getting rid of foreign interference in his economy... giving the land to the 'folks' who really 'deserve' the property... and making things equal and fair!

How else could the PRO, FPC, and FLEXPRO all be the same price on the same day!

I can see what you are trying to do, extracting the basic principles from both to find commonalities. That's fine, its a good exercise to do, but you have to keep it all in its proper prospective.

There is a whole world of difference between the two, where they draw their lines, and what they are willing to do to accomplish their goals.

Actions matter.

As much as I dislike the CWB's actions, they are no where near as horrible or repugnant as those of Mugabe, not by a long shot and I do not think for a second that they ever will be.

Who was the Prime Minister when armed police arrested Western Canadian grain farmers in the middle of the night, chaining and handcuffing them in front of wives and kids? Strip searches. Confiscating trucks.

What was their crime? Must have serious - threatening - leaving vulenerable people in serious danger. Or was it that they opposed the policy of the Government of the day? Hhmmmm.

yes, i thought of that after i posted. should have said anti single desk. i think that would be a fairer representation because i know those who want choice are sensitive about not wanting to be prtrayed as out to destroy the wheat board but it is debatable what the final effect would be. if tom wants to say his property rights are being trampled or designated area farmers are discriminated against, fine, but to compare the level of threat to lives and physical wellbeing between the two situations is a conceit that isn't earned. way, way over the top. a few nights in the can is a lot different from the violence in some countries for defying the government.

Since we both have read the survey, I might reference slide 10 of the CWB producer survey which asks how closely the federal government reflects respondents views on policy issues. With the observation that the CWB issue is only a small part of issues that influence peoples opinion, I might note that 49 % of people surveyed indicated they feel comfortable with the current governments policies - highest level in the 9 years in question and up from 11 % in 1999. Case in point, you can go to the survey and highlight the things you want and I can go to the same survey and find something different.

On the case of the gag order (if you want to call it that), you would have to make the case farmers are stupid and need to be informed by millions of dollars of advertising/communicition by all sides of the debate. My sense (you can argue other wise) is farmers are very aware of the issues, capable of expressing their opinion and have made decisions which are accurately reflected in the 2008 CWB survey. I don't think extra expenditure of money will make any difference. But you can present a different argument.

First of all, jensend, an entire masked swat team invaded a Manitoba family's farm, armed with guns, and terrified the wife, and it was done because the family had trucked grain across the border.

That is a single-desk vision executed.

The CWB will have someone do it for them. They are too spoiled and lazy to do any scubby-work themselves, so they get Customs to do their dirty work for them.


Secondly , don't even try to portray/imply all choice farmers as simply worried about their personal image as the reason they votedfor/support a dual market.

Most choice farmers were very tolerant of the single -desk farmers' viewpoint; moreso than the converse.

Most single deskers generally are intolerant, as a lot, waspish in their position, and unwilling to concede. NO accomodation.

And you are losing ground every day, because of that approach.

Who wants a business partner like that?

Every day, the single-deskers lose a supporter and every day the free-marketers gain a convert.

Converts. Think about that word.

The choice side is getting stuffed with them.

It is all a matter of degree... of course.

How did Mugabe start?

With simple 'social engineering' as his guide... he kicked white folk off their land... thereby confiscating their property without compensation.

The CWB, NOT PM Harper... is the administration that confiscates without fair compensation... hence the problem with PPO contracts... the engineers at the CWB pad the pool now on a daily basis... with absurd charges that prove the pools and FPC FLEXPRO are all totally interrelated.

The whole point of the Fixed Price Contract in the first place... was to keep pooling and cash pricing totally separate... which is the only reason for a contingency fund as well!

Now everything is contingent on the pool... right down to them being the same price today... and stealing the price straight out of the basis to insure us we will continue to be ripped off non-stop!

The folks thinking these pricing options up need to take their blinders off and clean out their ears!

WHERE is a minimum price contract with the CWB?

FLEXPRO SHOULD be an 80% 90% 100% EPO on the PRO that can be prepared daily.

The guys who though the present Flexpro program up should go back out to the playground and learn a thing or two on the first floor at the day care for a couple of weeks from the children and their supervisors!

If they treated us grain growers with half the respect of the daycare workers... Flexpro as presented would have been turfed months ago... and at least an EPO type system introduced!
