    Jensend,

    You live in Alberta?

If you do... I expect you to turn in your farm plates on your vehicles... and only burn clear fuel from now on!

      Jensend,

By the way... I own a Diesel Jetta... only burn clear in it... and use it on long farm trips... because it COSTS much LESS than a heavy diesel truck even with all the 'incentives' we have to run them!

heck let the europeans come. we moved to sask from alberta. tom, we ran a diesel passat until the sask roads beat up the brakes and brakelines too bad. miss getting fifty miles to the gallon at 120 with the ac on. i think what gets me going on these threads is that we aren't recognizing things for what they really are. that's why i get on crop insurance. if you look at the total premium compared to coverage the risk reward doesn't look so good. my wife is from germany and her father always said that the european agriculture wasn't so much a farming issue as a social and environmental issue. her relatives that are on the farm are essentially employess of the state. they are way ahead of us on the environmental and food quality issues. my wife's cousin is just setting up a large solar collection system at their stable. they get huge incentives and assistance to set it up and receive a premium rate for electricity generated so that now their retirment is assured. it would be a lot easier to formulate cogent agricultural policies if we took the broader, longer point of view and had some vision of what this country should look like in twenty-five or a hundred years.
