Early Frost Would Punish "Late-Planted" Crops

Early Frost Would Punish "Late-Planted" Crops in canada and the USA.
Every one is two weeks behind normal.
Storm Exchange weather information the old martel crop projections: "Late-planted” corn and soy will not produce high yields.
Spring rains, June flooding and late planting make crop more susceptible to early frost.
Iowa corn averaging 61 inches tall, 20 inches behind 2007, 16 inches below 5-year average.
    Whats the story in canada?

Most crops here in the north west have a 50/50 chance. Even a later August frost will decimate crops. If we can make it into Sept we will be o.k.

Crops from Portal, ND to Bismark look very good. Will be returning on Thursday, expect to see combines operating in wheat.

My wheat just flowering some later heads, planted last but looks bumper and just got another timely rain. Canola was thin to start but is filling great lots of pods. Peas are very short, will have trouble getting under them will have to sc**** the ground but better than average pods and still blooming, hope it does not turn into a salvage operation. Getting the bin rings and tarps ready.

Ours are the same hopper but how late do they seem, canola is done flowering and isnt bad no huge, huge yield but not bad, hrs could be really really excellent but late. Durum not great rain was 2 weeks late. Its their for an average but no bin buster.Late Barley really thick and so is Oats. Most in East Sask and North I think are the same.

Sunflowers have just started to flower in Manitoba and soybeans likewise. Canola is almost done. Temperatures are continuing to trend lower , this does not bode well for heat loving crops.

Next two weeks look good and if we can get past the 18 I think we will get to at least the first week of september. Most of Sask needs it. Canola still flowering in alot of Saskatchewan and Albert Calgary to Edmonton.
