    Malt Barley

I was talking to my cousin in Huntley MT, and he is selling 3 loads of malt to go this morning @ $11.03/bus.

Why is Board so far out to lunch??

    Snappy,

Who EXACTLY does the CWB work for... 'designated area' inmates... of CWB Agents that buy all CWB grain?

The CWB 'monopoly' was always meant to keep prices down... that has not changed!

Sounds like your cousin is actually talking $11.03/cwt - which is how the trade quotes barley prices in MT.

        $11.03/cwt = $5.42/bu

That's a more contemporary price in the US (actually on the low side)

I am not taking sides, but Bottineau Farmers Elevator quoted me $6 a bushel for malt this am. They do quote MOST of their prices in hundred weight in the US. Just my 2 cents....

                Current prices:

                Great Falls........$11.00 / cwt
                Golden Triangle....$11.00 - $14.00 / cwt
                North Central......$11.00 / cwt
                North East.........$11.00 / cwt

                West Fargo.........$5.75/bu
                Minneapolis........$7.15/bu

If someone is out there paying $11.00/bu, please let me know. I'd sell that all day long.

                      But it got squared.

If it was a Board supporter issue, the facts would never get in the way of the single desk myth, and would be kept under the covers.

There were some pretty great basis contracts down there in spots when the corn was flying they were able to lock in some lovely prices. Highest I saw up here was 7.10 on a cash plus.

6.40 us is 6.82 Canadian that's better than what our 5.50 if were lucky come one guys were getting it again and no one seems to care. their is always, it seems to me a dollar difference in most cases from what the board gets us and what the American farmer gets. It use to be what was posted for Vancouver was usually ND price.
