One that got me was the "20%" market share that the board brags about in all of their letterhead hasn't existed in over 10 years! And whoops, in all that time nobody noticed, yah right.
I saw the latest numbers last night and they are down another percentage point this year from 14.5 to 13.5%.

The other is that they get the US and Canadian export numbers wrong.

450 high priced people and they can't do basic fact checking?

      Fransisco,

I have to wonder about the basic business ethic at the CWB and the corporate culture they demand of the folks that work at the CWB.

I just filled out my permit book.

When I finished doing it... at the end of the procedure... a screen pops up AFTER entering all info... that the application failed and try again.

I phoned the CWB 800 while on i-net line... and went through what was wrong.

There was a box that needed to be checked off... that showed up in a section after the failed application... asking if everything/info given was correct... and the entity doing the applying had the right to do the application (something like this).

It did accept my info... after checking the box...

But it really bugs me that the CWB would not be up front... and simply ask their question... in an honest way... instead of 'failing' the application...

Must make the grower feel like a fool?

I asked the 800 guy... and he said... be happy it worked!

The CWB won't even send out a work sheet... or the normal application page that came out with permit books every other year...

AND get this... it was to 'save mailing charges' and send less paper!

HOW stupid... they sent a blank CWB permit book that weighed 50 times what the application page and worksheet weighed.

As if the folks at the elevator have unlimited time to go through all our farms... from scratch... without us (as the growers) at least doing the basic work of getting the figures lined up and in order.

I hate it... when It seems like I am 'misspoken to/decieved' every time I must deal with the CWB!

I don't see how this can be healthy for the folks that must work at the CWB each day... that must distribute all the 'mistruths'!

I can't see how this 'corporate culture' is sustainable in the long run.

Just like the drive by 'smear' job the CWB did on Informa... being truthful to 'designated area' growers does not appear to have any value to those who manage the CWB Corporation!

Here's how much our local elevator sucks. They won't buy grain, just sell you stuff. They won't fill out a cash advance or permit book application without an appointment. Angribusiness has morfed into a big steaming pile of you know what. If it wasn't for the CWB we would all have to line up to kiss a-- to git them to buy our grain. Reality check! Open market be darned.

          Burbert,

Perhaps if you had a better frame of mind... and treated them like you would like to be treated yourself... if you were required to do their job...

It would go a long long way to building a relationship that was productive and prosperous... on both sides!

Being GRUMMPY can be contagious... as being cantankerous.

A smile can go a long ways Burbert!

NO ONE MUST DEAL WITH YOU... it wouldn't be illegal... for anyone but the CWB... to tell you to take a hike and never come back!

Another stupid comment by Burbert. So you can not sell all the other grains and oilseeds you grow. Actually on second thought you probably grow 100% board crops.
