    His website.

    His property.

Not owned by the "common-good" like the sun and moon are.

    His choice.

Ownership means he can turf both you and I off with one click.

Practice the idea in your head with the rest of the commotion going on in there.

Ownership will get to mean I can click off the CWB, too.

Will note the title of the overall area of Agri-
ville.com. These discussion groups (of which
commodity marketing is one) is called a
COMMUNITY CENTER. A community center is a
place that is open to everyone for there
enjoyment. There is normally an owner of the
community center and they set rules/standards
such that the building is not damaged either
accidently or by willful vandalism. They also set
rules such that everyone feels comfortable there
and can use it for their enjoyment.

The same applies here. Commodity marketing
area is here for everyone to use. Farms.com (not
Joe Dales or as a volunteer proxy Lee/Charlie) has
some rules to protect the integrity (makes sure no
one gets sued/the site shut down) and that anyone
can feel comfortable in expressing themselves. A
personal goal is to expand the subscriber base and
have it be relevant to a larger farm manager base.

So what should the rules be to run a intellectually
safe place were people can participate without
feeling threatened and at the same time allow
freedom to others to express themselves fully?
Not an easy answer but the guidelines to the left
(still not connected) provide the basis for the
      decision.

        O.k.

Burbert gets called every name in the book and is attacked in everyway.

Any of those posts get deleted?

The cool kids of this group get attacked and wah lah, post deleted.

If somebody says something wrong, you defend your posistion and level/right heads prevail.

You cant handle the heat, stay out of the oven.

We had the censorship fight a while back.I/we won,(pars i thought you were on my side?).

But at this point joe/charlie/et al,your wondering did he fire 5 shots or 6

And in all the confusion i cant really remember

So you have to ask yourself one question

I have to agree with your comments on burbert. He probably doesn't whine to the owners, though, or threaten lawsuits, and thus the posts are ignored.

Could there be a bunch of paid-intimidators who ride this site continuously and threaten slander?

Paying a half-dozen extra lawyers to police internet sites wouldn't be surprising or a problem for intimidators, would it?

Intimidators are accustomed to harrassing and whining and bitching, and buzzing around just like the flies do right now, sticky together, and gathering so they can keep their bodies in cash-warm doors and windows.

              Yup.

              Beechey Island

The most suitable place for Intimidators is Beechey Island.

Just as note (actually when I am watching a football
game and hating to see Calgary getting beat), this
September will be my 10 th year anniversary as an
Agri-ville moderator. Perhaps there are times in life
when you ask why and where you once had an
                answer, there is none.

the censorship on this site is just plain silly. it's neither uniform nor evenhanded. there seems to be a select few that have free rein and others can be deleted at the whim of somebody under the influence of the full moon or whatever. correct me if i'm wrong but i think even the clock on the server is out of whack because it doesn't correspond to any time zone as far as i can tell. all in all it could be done better.

How? What would you do differently if you were in a
                    decision making role?

well i wanted to give you an answer to that but i thought i better go to guidelines to see what they were but access was forbidden. i don't think this site is maintained that well. i think it kind of limps along at times and farms.com puts as little as possible into it. i'll note that i think if you are doing any of the censoring you should drop your pro alberta govt and anti cwb biases when you decide whether or not something is suitable or objectionable. if somebody wants to be on the fringe let them unless they say something personally insulting or degrading. they can take the heat for their stance. you don't have to decide if their argument is legitimate or otherwise. people on both sides of debates on this site have thrown insults and i've had remarks made to me that i thought were on the rude and lewd side of even but i generally try to make myself get back to the argument and let the rhetoric slide. you can't force people to be intelligent.

Feedback appreciated. I try to apply the principles
you talk about. Joe can comment but I know
Farms.com is working to improve Agri-ville. As with
                        all businesses, never enough time/resources.

                          charliep,

I've been on here almost as long as you have.

For you folks who read this, and all the thankless complainers, too, in February, I met charliep for the first time. I must say, I was honored.

We're very fortunate to have charliep moderate this site, and I have to say, virtually, he is current with his comments, extremely well-informed, very diplomatic, and practices self-restraint with his responses on AV.

He's gracious and industrious in real life. And I'm excited when he owns an opinion.

charliep grades a triple A in both person and in pen.

                            Cotton,

I was deleted a few weeks back,

                            no big deal

suck it up and accept that maybe you crossed a line and try avoid doing so again.

I know I am always flirting with the line especially with cwb execs and directors and because of that I also know that every now and then I cross it,

again, deal with it like an adult,

because quite frankly you should be embarresed by your childish outburst
