As the lawsuits fly and the CWB friends climb on the democracy bandwagon it's time to come clean. A panel reviewed the CWB election process and came up with a list of recommendations which the CWB director chose to ignore. We keep hearing how farmers should decide the fate of the CWB yet the board and it's friends cling to the notion that all it's supporters should be kept on the election list regardless of whether they even grow a crop. The friends are no better or worse than the government. Both sides want to promote their vision. The only difference is that the government is promoting a system of choice whereas the CWB are promoting a system of forced compliance.

My "association" is with the CWB GrainBeetle. Forced association. Against my will. And it costs my farm $100's of thousands every year. There is no doubt about that. I do the price comparisons continuously.
Are you OK with that? Should I be happy to leave that money on the table? Every year.
Do you cherish living in a free country?
Or does forced collectivism suit you better? If so, where would you stop?
With wheat and barley to the CWB? Or peas, flax, and canola too? Hay. Beef cattle? Hogs? Maybe no open markets should be allowed?
How about selling our farms - when we want to retire - to the Canadian Farmland Board. One buyer. With a monopoly. No choice. No competitive bids. Would that be OK with you Grainbeetle?
Why stop there? No machinery auction sales either. The Canadian Used Farm Machinery Board would have a monopoly on our equipment when we're done with it. You couldn't trade it, sell it auction it. Only take what the CUFMB will give you. Maybe some pricing options though!!! A fixed price contract (FPC) based on - oh, I don't know - maybe the price of used cotton pickers in Alabama - discounted for risk, time value of money, and currency fluctuations. Or maybe just based on the whim of the CUFMB?
Tell me Greenbeetle. Where in the above, would you draw the line? Is forced collectivism for wheat and barley enough for you? Or would you go all the way?

Sure thing! Chaff pointed this out not to long ago but its worth re-posting.
"Last year the CWB's average sales on spring wheat were about $2.72/bu BELOW the crop year average selling price of the CWB. The durum PRO is about $6.10/bu BELOW the crop year average.
Based on last year's pool size as reported by the CWB, this means that the CWB made $1.2 BILLION less than if they just got average prices.
$1.2 BILLION BELOW AVERAGE
If the CWB has monopoly powers, why doesn't it get better returns?"

And what did it cost us in previous years you ask? Again Chaff has done the math.
"Just for fun I took a look at 06-07 crop year to see how the CWB did - compared to its own average selling price.
wheat pool.....$51.16/tonne ($1.39/bu) below its average
durum pool.....$57.57/tonne ($1.57/bu) below its average
malt barley pool.....$62.99/tonne ($1.37/bu) below its average
Combined: $1.139 BILLION below average"
and...
"It took me a while to compile all the data from the CWB but I did the pool return vs average selling price calculation for the 05-06 pools:
05-06:
spring wheat: $44.74/t ($1.22/bu) below crop year average offer price
durum: $26.99/t ($0.73/bu) below average
malt barley: $26.73/t ($0.58/bu) below average
TOTAL: $745.5 MILLION
From before:
06-07: $1.1 BILLION
07-08: $1.4 BILLION
Total for the last three years:
OVER $3.2 BILLION BELOW AVERAGE
I think I see a pattern here......"

The numbers don't look good grainbeetle any way you look at them. The majority of farmers want choice and a big reason why is the billions of dollars the current system is costing us.
All the lawsuits and propaganda in the world are not going to help you keep a lid on this mess.

Grainbeatle,
Unfortunately... my association is a forced marriage with you.
Prove my losses?
A CWB Basis that is jaw ripping... lowest price is the law... sue me if you don't enjoy getting it... with a bunch of Liberal rip off judges to enforce my farms losses... to0 turn my prosperity over to you and your buddies cause your too lazy to look after your own marketing.
You say you can get more for your wheat and barley if you confiscate my farms grain... I call your bluff... like everyone else on this thread.
It is about time you and your friends came clean...
How does all of us being ripped off... make it fairer?
Just like the bone heads that have been given exemptions hauling south... and all the while smiling and supporting the CWB... cause ethically my farm won't lie and cheat... therefore I am locked out of the global market place... to protect the corrupt 'single desk' that is nothing more than a front for Mafia type left wing bandits.
Co-operation does work... you know it... but you folks are too lazy/care about the difference between co-operation and communism!
You must sleep well knowing how you have ripped off your neighbour... enjoy it while you can... what goes around come around... a principal of life that NEVER changes!
God Bless you and yours... hope you can learn the difference between grace and greed... caring and communism... integrity and corruption!
What can you teach a lefty communist?
Not much... he is too busy feeling around trying to fish coins out of his neighbours pockets... while the real rewards of prosperity float by and disappear... untouched by everyone... cause we are cursed by the greed of those who should know better but refuse to stop being thieves!
