Are the interims and final supposed to be like patronage dividends. Unfortunely for most of us they never seem to be more than the open market would have allowed us to get.

Unless you do a wholesale clearing of the arrogance at the cwb starting with Ward W nothing will change. He is the reason we have a fusarium program and flaman is the reason we have a organic program that only benefits certain individuals.

As far as I can see it's always less than we could have gotten on the open market. Less than average by any kind of objective measurement.

There is definitely a culture of uncompetitiveness at work at the board. They don't have to compete so they don't. It's not a question any more of open market vs monopoly its a question of compete or fade away.

Food for thought after CWB. I just had a long conversation with a neighbour who sold some feed wheat into the U.S. last summer. He went throgh the CWB process. Guess what the problem was? He had a horrendous time finding an elevator to take it. They didn't want to upset their American customers! What does that mean? You won't be exporting your own grain to the U.S. without a broker, what a surprise!

A good many of the anti-CWBers think that without the CWB to hinder them, that they will be able to sell into the USA any time they want. What a sad awakening when they find resistance from American farmers and their grain companies,(not to mention the US government).

So instead of the promised bonanza, more bottlenecks with import restrictions, brokerage fees and potential blockade action awaits.

Still...these "brain washed" free enterprisers will not be deterred.

Most of the grain from Pioneer Reed Lake near Herbert Sask went direct to the states for milling. So my grain didn't receive a premium of being in a US catchment area (like the Churchill premium) nor did it receive any value for a lower freight rate to the states. These are the kinds of penalties that must be erased in our system.

The problem is where do you draw the line. Does someone on the border receive more than someone 10 miles away?

Why is there a churchill premium and no US premium? Its a simple question - they drew the line for the churchill premium - right?

The bigger issue is when they rail grain from churchill to vancouver every producer has to pay that freight. Maybe the farmers receiving the premium should be on the hook for the reposition of grain instead od getting a premium and then forcing everyone else to pay for poor management of the stocks.

Why do you assume I want to export ONLY to the USA, agstar?
England is a good market. Germany is a good market. Japan is a good market.
