    EU import dutues back on

    Agstar77,

I am simply amazed at the US hating logic you spew...

Here is what your freinds in the EU just did...

By the way... has the US put an import tax on our grain lately?

The CWB does not need import duties... the CWB just blows the bottom out of the grain import offer...that they/we (by the beauty of the 'single desk') sell domestically... and imports can be selectively displaced wherever the CWB picks. (so much for my rant)

"EU Re-Introduces Import Duties on Cereal Grains (including buckwheat)

On October 16th, the European Commission announced the re-introduction of import duties for cereals (including buckwheat) imported into the EU. Duties were initially suspended as from 1 January, 2008; the suspension was extended at 1 July. The re-introduced duties came into effect October 26.

It has been indicated that vessels arriving in an EU Member State after the date of "coming into effect" of this Regulation (the 26th of October) will have to demonstrate that they departed Canada prior to October 24th in order to benefit from duty-free access (should duties be applicable). Vessels departing Canada October 24th or later would be subject to duties, if applicable.

The reintroduction will affect the following tariff lines:

    1001 10 00 Durum wheat

    1001 90 99 common wheat

1003 00 barley (feed and malt)

    1002 00 00 rye

    1005 90 00 maize (corn)

    1007 00 90 sorghum

    1008 10 00 buckwheat

    1008 20 00 millet

The duties for millet and buckwheat are fixed rates: 56€/tonne and 37€/tonne, respectively"

The E.U. states are not my friends and I never said I hate the U.S.. But I do not like their trade actions.
