    Viterra To Prosper

BNS analysts pick Viterra to benefit from a deregulated grain market. Gee , I thought they liked the CWB system and made more with it than an open market. I wonder where increased profits will come from?

Probably from all that high priced fertilizer they have to sell. Latest rumor is Viterra is telling everyone to keep their price high so they don't get stung with it. The sad part of the story is all the others are listening. Obviously Mayo caught someone at richardson pioneer and cargill with their pants down.

If they can lower costs to farmers they will get more volume which will translate into higher profits for the company.

      Everybody wins.

Repeat after me, lower costs, higher volume, lower costs, higher volume, etc, etc, etc

        agstar77,

        You still don't get it!

THE lack OF EFFECTIVE RISK MANAGEMENT OF OUR PRODUCE... HAS COST US 'designated area' grain growers BILLIONS OF $$$.

Viterra can make money... and needs to. Your farm and mine need to make money and PROSPER. IF WE DON'T... OUR FAMILY FARMS DIE...

PLEASE///\PLEASE... understand the CWB system is as broken as a LOADED Semi truck with 9 BLOWN OUT flat tires... going 60mph... DOWN HILL IN THE MOUNTAINS!

WE MUST GET STOPPED AND FIX THE TIRES AND WHEELS ON THIS CONVEYANCE BEFORE WE DESTROY MORE OF OUR FARMS...

THERE HAS BEEN ENOUGH PAIN AND DESTRUCTION FOR 10 GENERATIONS... WE ARE DOWN TO 1% of the population as farmers. You can't tell me honestly the CWB has done ANYTHING to save the family farm...

INSTEAD the CWB 'single deskers" have strenghtened the multi-nationals... and concentrated more and more power... in fewer and fewer hands... BEACUSE that is what happens when there is unbalanced power. Our system tries to balance itself out... thus an entity is being built as strong or trying to be stronger than the CWB.

Then all grains flounder in western Canada... BECAUSE OF THE MASSIVE MISMANAGEMENT OF THE CWB OF RISK AND BASIS MANAGEMENT.

        DO YOU GET IT AGSTAR77?

Fran , will you grow more grain for them? They will have to take market share from someone else, that will eventually mean less competion. Since it won't mean Cargills and ADM's leaving, it would have to be the independents squeezed out. Would that be easier under a deregulated enviroment?

If 'vital Earth' wants to keep their profits high by selling high priced fertilizer and then bragging about their profits, who is to stop them? If farmers are stupid enough to fall for their line of B.S., then more power to them.

I am sure that the ADM investment in the company will pay off nicely.

Agstar, I know you believe in the fixed pie theory. You don't believe in synergies, economic expansion, or in the ability of business to create new opportunities and new wealth. So I know your answer is that it will come from out of everyone else's hide.

However for the rest of us, we know that increased spending in technology, new capital investments, increased competition, and the unleashing of innovations will expand the pie.

Viterra will make more? Sure, and I am very glad about that. So will a lot of other companies. And you know what? Farmers will prosper the most. Why? Because we have proven time and again we can adapt even quicker than the rest of the industry. And so we should. Small business is always more nimble and able to change and adapt than large ones. We can, and will, take advantage of that.

New opportunities will pop up that we cannot see at this time. The CWB's presence stifles everything from innovation in science and technology, to handling and transportation, to market development. Once these things can happen freely in an environment of openness, creativity, competitiveness, we are all going to prosper more.

Everywhere in the world where entrepreneurship has replaced the heavy hand of a regulated economy, the ballooning of economic growth has been staggering. No better example than China. The FSU.

Or getting closer to home, look at our hog industry in the prairies. Remove a monopoly and the growth is measured not in small precentages, but in doubling and tripling.

Oats. More acres. More exports. More processing. More money.

But Agstar, for you this is just so much rhetoric. So you will do your best to make sure we continue to be stifled and less prosperous.

Keep your thumb on us. I know you enjoy it.

Agstar, you are in favour of a monopoly. We all know that. When there is a government legislated monopoly there is no competition. We all know that as well.

Do you know how silly you appear, as a monopolist, arguing that the problem with an open market is a lack of competition?

It just depends which side of the Monopoly you are on, besides the CWB is not a true monopoly.

                    Agstar77,

You are right... the CWB is not a monopoly.

The 683mmt of wheat produced in the world... with control at less than 5% by the CWB... should concern you greatly.

WHEN the CWB messes up... we are screwed Agstar77... and the 'single desk' means there is nothing we can do to stop these clowns from destroying our business.

There is no market discipline at the CWB. There is no accountability... in the past... but to a bunch of 'sheep' (sorry to the sheep family) 'single minded desked' directors and Liberal scoundrels with vindictive motivations.

NOT AT ALL the managers to run a multi-billion dollar industry!

Agstar77... you can ignore the obvious... but you can't fool all the people all of the time.

I sincerely hope those who's financial future truly is at risk.... will get out and vote in this CWB election... even though it (the CWB Directors elections) were designed to ignore those who are at most risk of CWB mismanagement!

Sure its good for viterra to make money but have they lowered their handling charges with more volume?

None of the grain companies or railways have passed there synergies on to the farmer.NONE. But the cwb hasn't either. Since ocean freight rates have gone down and so has the loonie we should be seeing higher pro's not lower. With oil down our rail freight rates should be down as well as the railways are allowed a fuel surcharge.

All I know is, farmers continue to get hooped and its getting worse.

OK Agstar, I was going to ask you which side of the monopoly you think we're on. But I won't. I'll assume you think farmers are on the 'right' side of the monopoly.

Can you tell me how much my bushels have benefitted by being on the 'right side'?

The only way that Viterra can prosper, is to continue ripping their farmer friends off. After all it is the same old crew that ran the Pool to ground, Agrisnore into the dirt, Agrisore United into the dirt more. I think that Viterra staff in generally resent/hate most farmers they have to deal with!!!!

What reason would the employees have to resent/hate farmers? That makes no sense, because without farmers they wouldn't have a business to go to work for.

Here's a bizarre thought....if you are so convinced that Viterra will **** and pillage the farmer and make all this money...it's a no-brainer...buy shares.

PS. Agrium peaked at $115, dropped to $34 and now are around $40. Buy some fertilizer stocks as a hedge against high fertilizer prices.
