    Hey redleaf,

I didn't mean my neighbors ALL are like that, but you hear things sometimes that suck. You gotta just keep the head held high... BUT, many guys are so out of touch and grew up farming with 3 or four guys in their operation, that they have no perspective, because things run so smoothly for them with two, three, or more men. I do know one guy I consider a friend thought I was crazy because I hire custom spraying done which frees my time up to seed, harrow, etc. He thought I was nuts, but he has ALWAYS had daddy there to help, and labour has never been a problem. Farming same land base as me, and wonders why I hire spraying done? That one got back to me from a mutual friend who actually understands my perspective.

Nothing I love more than picking up a load of fertilizer, and chatting with one of these young guys with all the toys daddy bought, and free labour, the conversation goes like this: " hey, you got much in?" asks he.

ME: Just getting rolling today. You (I'm polite, lol)
HIM: Oh we got about 2 000 in, been going hard for 3 days, got both units going, but one broke a hose so we're screwed for the next hour or so. Bout half done.
    ME: I see

In my mind I'm thinking you little friggin' spoiled punk. I, as you know, farm less than you have seeded in three days, have just "lost" the same amount of time as your one hose busted unit, but lost the time driving to town and my seeder is lonely with no driver. Meanwhile you have three or four guys running the two units and the support system, and can spell eachother off. You have auto steer, so really your not working, your daddy's hired man is the one working in the heat hauling to you, and if he is ten minutes late, you assume the role of foreman and get pissed right off at him, and puff out youur chest like an overgrown peacock, cuz you farm so much land which in turn makes you awesome.

HAHAHAH. Someday I'll grow some and actually tell one of these little peacocks just that.

But I'm not bitter! Just wish they understood my position a bit and didn't rub in the fact they are done my farm size in three days. LOL

LOL with you. Funny, I farm north of you but seem to have the same neighbors.

I run into these guys all the time. They like to tell you how they are doing and why and with what.

Don't really care as long as I don't hear about another of their episodes at the farm debt review when they get everything written off.
