So Ralphie Goodale puts forward a private member's bill to reform the powers of the cwb.
I understand he has probably been working on this a long time, but the timing about worrying about the cwb instead of the general farm population and its weather problems indicates he is out of touch. The cwb may have nothing to do this year anyway.
Why not use his time to ask the feds, on behalf of saskatchewan, for an adhoc payment considering the severity of the 1 in a 100 year rain event, that essentially lasted for the seeding months of may and june.
If the feds acted as quick as they have for the auto industry and bombardier with the consideration of the magnitude of the problem, the US would not likely challenge the aid they could give.
And more than likely the US is going to be helping farmers out as well. I don't believe the rain stops at the 49th parallel.
Anyway, back to why Goodale won't leave this alone. Is Martin behind this or is there some board position goodale is eyeing up?
