    Holly F S, Today's forecast! AGGGGGGGGGGGG

    Just looking at today's forecast for coming three days. Wow can we get any good news ever. Seems the SE part of Saskatchewan and all of Manitoba is in for a Montana Low with a little GULF Moisture thrown in for good luck. YEA.
    See we have been trying to seed since Saturday, Machinery problems with new drill that's expected. Both were ready last night late and will go till rain today. But here is funny part we went to our driest dirt. I knew their would be problems when cart and drill started sinking as we entered the quarter. So lets just say its not dry ground. Water every where so lots of lost acres, probably 40% at this point most wont get seeded even in June.
    So that's about 4000 acres under water. That's Under water not draining out but under water. Land that had hail last year is worse.
    So if we get the 25mm and up to 50mm that all weather services are talking Id say it will be lucky to get maybe 3000 in ground. Who knows its early only one week gone in may three to go. Mathematically its possible to get it all in before June but not sure.
    Seems the Foam Lake line has moved 10 miles further south and were now living in the shit area. 10 miles south of us their seeding like we did last year.
    Time will tell but 2011 is not looking to good this way.

    I got a dumb question Sask,or anyone.

    I remember you saying you had a 4710 sprayer,how
    did you deside how much water it could go through
    and what do you do when you start sinking?

    I have been gearing down and then flipping the
    traction control on,but should i also be pulling back
    on the throttle and slowing down,or keep it pinned in
    first gear with traction on?

      We now use a 4720 last three years. "On land that I know very well Pin it and then as I am going through pull back a little in dicey spot and then pin it again. I have taken it through 3ft deep slough but that time I was lucky. With big tires it goes through a lot of stuff. If their is water last year you were safe but if their was just mud you were sunk.

        Oh I just remembered something about our 4710. We hanged 1200 lbs or 1000 lbs I cant remember exactly on front. It was a kit from JD. Wow it got me through more shit than traction control. Seems it balanced the machine out better and front tires actually pulled you out.

            I had a custom sprayer stuck about 4
            years ago with a JD sprayer (not sure of
            the model) and he said when he got stuck
            he boomed in as it helped the weight
            distribution. I thought how much could
            it help? I pulled him out onto better
            ground, we unhooked the chain and as he
            boomed out the back wheels sank into the
            ground so we hooked up the chain again.
            So I can see where the front weights
            would help. God I hate mud.

              Put duals on the rear and go through everything, it is easier on the machine because it isnt trying to crawl out of a hole all the time. Had them on last year and we are putting them on our new 4730 today. It is the best was to go in these conditions.

                Thats one reason why I like the Miller Nitro. Balanced very well. Hard to get stuck. Big tires(800/70/38), big power (365 hp), 5 speed transmission, 1600 gallon tank and front mount booms make a good combination. IMHO

                    We just went with 20.8 38's kept the back wheels wide front tires narrow. Works very well, and a hell of a lot cheaper than duals or metrics. If you ever get a flat with those big metrics good luck getting one asap and are extreemly expensve. 20.8's are very common and cheap.

                      What Tires on the 4730 do you have... did you use as the duals on back?
