    Manitoba's Election

This province is unfortunately filled with retards
    apparently.

I'm not going to be politically correct... The NDP will
    probably win another term.

Winnipeg looks, and stats back it up, like a 3rd
    world slum.

We have a "cheap" workforce, and a premier who
    calls the working people "cheap"...

I've been in and about all three prairie provinces,
nowhere are people as demoralized, and depressed
as here... yet they want to be that way ?!?!?! The
"boom in Alberta and Saskatchewan is Evil. It is
tearing up families and making everyone's life
about getting ahead. having money. having a good
life" - quote from local guy.

    :'(

Sorry, I needed to rant. Now going to vote
    CONSERVATIVE.

From here it looks like Manitoba is a child dependant on federal money, that;s why they vote NDP. Big government will look after them. Don't worry Klause Alberta just elected it's first NDP Premier calling herself a PC she got in with massive support from the Teachers, nurses and public service unions. We will race you to the bottom.

      So true.

I joked on facebook yesterday... "I'm a committed white male with clear goals, a plan to get there, a farm, and a high paying off-season job. That makes me an extreme minority".. At the same time, saying that locally here might just get me into a fist fight.

I went to vote. Every house along the way has a VoteNDP sign in front of it.

You can't discount the effect that Hugh McFadden's leadership of the PC's has had in effectively turning off his membership base. Other than the Bipole Hydro issue, there is nothing in his platform to differentiate the PC's from the NDP. Even on the crime issue, his solution is to pour money into the St. James Civic Centre. As far as the deficit goes, he's promising eight years of deficits as opposed to the four touted by the NDP. That doesn't sound very conservative to me. In talking to many conservative supporters lately, it's hard to find anyone who is enthused about McFadden and eager to help him out. The troubles in Manitoba to some extent start with the conservative party itself. Does anyone know what they stand for anymore, other than to be NDP lite?

NDP lite? From where I sit it looks like they've been running to the left of NDP.

Only forty minutes into Global's election coverage and they're already declaring a majority for the NDP. No surprise there.

In a parliamentary system, I don't care to see any party get more than three majority governments in a row. After two, they usually start to get complacent, arrogant and wind up doing a lot of damage. They start taking the voters for granted. Three majorities and it's time to clean house. But not in Manitoba. If the Tories don't clean up their own house and soon, they'll hand the NDP a fifth.

It has been suggested that the fix to the
problem would be to ban people that
receive a paycheck from the government
from voting. That would include farmers
                  until the agri-stability/invest program is
                  eliminated.

I think it's time for Hugh to leave politics and go back to competitive curling. The compaign sucked. The PCs let the NDP run damaging negative ads without attacking back. One promise after another, racing towards years of deficits.

Now the NDP have another majority and Manitoba is doomed to another 4 years of socialist dark ages.

The NDP here is just plain nasty.... They run a
campaign based on lies, and attacks - whatever
                        they need to get in...

I'm so glad we're, as they say "outta here!".

4 more years of the NDP... we'll have the most
expensive power, the most cops, even more
expensive healthcare, and at the same time, a
bunch of power outages, even more murders, and
absolutely no way to see a doctor.

                        Thanks, Saskfarmer :'(

NDP is the same in SK.
Hope we have seen the light and never go back.

Looks like we're gonna get another hydro line down the center of the province whether we like it or not.

Seat count 36 commy, 19 con.

Vote share 45% commy, 44% con

Again, the city and the natives shall rule over all rural/normal manitobans. The commies should be whining about first past the post, no? Unless they win of course, then it is "this is how our democracy works". LOL

My sympathy as well Klause. Sask was stuck like this too and it was so frustrating to behold. Finally Saskatoon got a grip on reality, and we booted the beggars out.
