Sask Flax council recommends Not growing on Canola stb because of toxicity from canola.
Flax will pull more nutrients per bushel out of ground than Canola.

I was wondering about the lentil-pursuit hangover as well.
What variety of flax, Bethune or ?

Why slam someone for asking a question? In our area some have seeded flax after canola, and have had 30 bushel crops, they have also had 15 bushel crops but as usual the weather is the biggest factor above all those listed above.
It will depend on your soil, if you have lots of available phos then the canola issue is not so much.

Some of the old timers used to seed flax on land that was a bit hard pan so to speak and they claimed it mellowed the soil for years after. As far as weeds when we seeded it we used flaxmax and had an excellent clean field.

Guys that seeded it this year claim it is running 30 where not flooded and 0 to 15 where it was flooded and some of that is on canola previous. They are looking for something to do with the straw as in bales etc. Do the feedlots use that straw I wonder? or to heat homes etc?

With the cost of seeding canola and the risk involved I am thinking of seeding some next year, would need an early variety the bethune is a good grower but seems to take for ever on a colder fall to mature, any other good varieties earlier?

Have a guys in our area that spays 1/2 rate pursuit on his flax every year and has been doing so for 12 year.
Wouldn't worry about pursuit residual after peas.

Jag, did you say pursuit on canary mixed with buctril? Never heard of that before. I talked to a guy earlier in the year that claimed there is a new wild oat spray for canary but memory is too short to think of what the name was.
Pursuit on flax? never heard of that either. Wow I must be really livin in the boonies. lol So do guys seed flax on pea stubble sprayed with full rate of pursuit?

Some guys do puma here too, but have had mixed results. Some times with the wrong conditions it burns the canary and little heads result but then again so does avenge sometimes. Avadex seems to be the thing many are using but requires more time operations etc.

Not a lot of peas in our area so i can't comment on it, but as long as you have good organic matter and a decent amount of rain and heat throughout the summer, i wouldn't be worried about pursuit not braking down in the soil.

By the way pursuit is NOT registered on flax. My neighbor who has been doing it for years said that he saw them try it @ the crop diagnostics center in Carman one year, said it looked like it worked good and ever since he as been doing it and it works well.

                      Mustard man
I do not remember the exact blend but have it
written it down but dont have the info with me
now. It was around 145 pounds per acre of one
                      blend we used.

It was seeded on summerfollow in 2011 and
yielded around 30 bu acre on summerfollow. In
2011 our canola yielded around 47 bu acre on
                      summerfollow.

We did not have any flax seeded in 2012 but
some local farmers did that purchased some
seed from me. They said it yielded around 30
bu acre around the same as the Canola did in
2012 in our area in 2012.

Hard to say what the results will be next year
but the canola imput cost's is making me look at
                      some options.
