Was at the Bruno auction sale today and there was a quarter section of land also went at the sale, happened to be standing inbetween the two local guys bidding. From what was told was money already earned and the land was in an area the was very productive compared to the lower assesses lands around the area. 290,000 dollars for one quarter section. Don't know anything much else about the land just that it was not un expected. Just me in shock and now counting my money again. I really need to start living the good life. It was also planted to winter wheat and supposedly fertilized.

In my opinion though this area has experienced less flooding frost than we have and is a bit of a prime area or poorer lands further around in my opinion I may be wrong there. So the locals maybe have the money to buy it. Just that minus the 100 per acre of planting and fertilizer it comes out to 1833 per acre at 150 acres for the quarter, again it could be 160 I do not know, all I know is my land is just as good. The Cat 70 lever sc****r sold for 32,000 does not look like much ditching gets done around the yard site as there are sloughs everywhere around.

I am pretty sure a person could get shot at in that area for ditching by the looks of things. Just that there are sloughs with water every where the land sold was not at that location though. So for my area we can ditch and almost no one bitch so for that at least the value should be 3000 per acre no shit. I don't think us farmers are going to make the value of the investment back at anywhere near these levels but I would prefer to live my life farming than trying to manage some other realestate. but never know

So true for the guys that want to sell, I for one did not see this coming as it is as for the prices that are there now. I will enjoy my farming career and maybe do as sask 3 and maybe purchase the disney hotel in Hawaii. Low interest rates and investors is still fueling the fire but interesting that at this sale it was locals I am led to believe.

14% growth means land prices double every 5 years.
If interest rates goto 18% your money in bonds
doubles every 3.8 years.
This is what happened in the early eighties, not that
this is going to happen again, just showing
perspective.

I always try (and do) to get ahead a little each
month. It surprises me how many guys will take a
little pay check and work 8 to 5? They just want to
make enough to get by and their happy. Actually
some guys don't even do that, can't even support
their own families....pure laziness.
I tried helping a guy last winter who wasn't fitting
into the community got him a job hauling logs was
helping him get his licence. Was going to make
good money for his struggling family. Then that
job fell thru so he didn't bother finishing getting the
licence. Let him some money to write the test he
failed a couple times just barely then finally go it.
Pissed me off he didn't take the driven. Smart
healthy guy just small things trip some guys up in
life and then they quit trying.
In Alberta if you work hard and smart anyone can
be wealthy. Endless amounts of work.
