That rent works out to just over 3 percent profit, and not sure about american land taxes but is what it is.
Have to talk to FBC about these peoples taxes on property etc but whats my chances they know anything?

the govt in canada, nz, and oz made a great mistake in not retaining the freehold of farmland, and could then have stopped over large farms and foreign ownership.

Funny thing after sitting on the Cat all
day yesterday, you realize that you are
the third and fourth generations on this
land. Yea selling would make one a very
nice retirement. But again I believe in
the family farm. These type of
operations last and last. Like one
earlier post in this thread. Find a old
RM map and see who still is their from
the beginning and how is that farm doing
            today.
Also if one decided not to farm the land
and rent it out at 87.50 half way
between 75 and 100. on the farm would
generate a income very nice for the rest
            of ones life.
Oh well back on the cat, the land I am
working on needs a little help.

              Well said Saskfarmer.
Its the family farms that keep our communitys going. Just selling is the easy way out, but working towards the futures for yourself and your family is something IMO that you can't put a price on.

Funny when I went to pay my Diesel bill
and Land taxes yesterday how the topic
                of foreign ownership came up.
Local fuel supplier says the Chinese are
the worst for paying fuel. Every excuses
in the book. Then at one RM office a new Canadian had a letter that said he owed
taxes for last year and this and what
does that mean. Dah seemed he moved and didn't think to change his address for
                the RM.
                Learning curve is steep.
But on these land companies and
investment houses and Chinese where is
any of them helping the local community.
THats the Billion dollar question that
                every one knows.

100 million acres at 1000 dollars an acre is 100
billion or ruffly 10% of chinese american treasury
                  holdings.

Sounds like a good trade to me.

Is there any risk in receiving payment of rent? If one has them pay 50% prior to seeding and then 50% after, what happens if they go broke or have tight cash flow? Does one just kick them off if they are late and if so, will lawyers get involved and can a small guy get screwed? I've never really needed a dedicated lawyer and don't really want to spend paid rent on a lawyer to collect unpaid rent. Comments please.
