    US Corn yeild down more?

    Red River Farm Network:

Informa Reduces Corn Yield Estimate —

Informa Economics has reduced its estimate of the national average corn yield by more than 4.5 bushels per acre, down to 122.4 bushels per acre. That reduces the crop size to 10.7 billion bushels, down 450,000 bushels from last month. However, the corn yield is four-tenths of a bushel higher than USDA’s current estimate. The soybean yield estimate is up eight-tenths of a bushel from both the October Informa and USDA estimates, to 38.6 bushels per acre. Soybean production is up 65 million bushels, to over 2.9 billion bushels.'

I guess someone will have to ask Errol if that will affect corn ending stocks?

For what it is worth, Informa Economics brought their yield numbers down to USDA ones. Informa carryovers are about 500 million bu versus USDA of 600 miiion bu. As Errol has indicated, the pace of corn exports remains slow with Informa expectations that the pace will pick up early 2013. We will all be watching this Friday's USDA report with the caveat the US corn acreage remains a bit of a mystery given the separation of duties within USDA.

Fyi-every single government or quasi government
statistic is a complete and utter lie.

Informa corn yields are just adjusting for
          USDA projections last month. Already
          factored into carryouts.
