CWB extends contract deadline for Harvest Pool to November 9
The deadline to sign up for the CWB Harvest Pool is this Friday, November 9. View the full news release online.
Pools benefit you by spreading price risk across a period of many months, ensuring you are not captive to the price offered at the time you contract your grain. CWB pools manage both futures and basis price risk. Basis price risk is driven by factors such as buyers' short term needs, handling and transportation costs, and spreads for protein and other quality characteristics.
Under pooling, you continue to benefit from sales prices achieved after you deliver your grain to the elevator. In addition, because CWB contracts can be delivered to any grain handling facility, you can negotiate the best deals possible on freight and handling charges. CWB Farm Business Representatives can help you with information on these costs and delivery opportunities.

Defer your upcoming 2011-12 interim pool payment
Farmers who wish to defer the upcoming interim pool payment for 2011-12 wheat, durum and barley are encouraged to contact CWB as soon as possible.
Payment amounts will be announced when government approval is received. However, if you already know you would like to defer, you can make arrangements now. More information is posted at www.cwb.ca/defer.
