    Cartier Wind Energy

They supply enough energy to meet the needs of 100,000 Quebec homes. I did not know Transcanada Pipe Corp was into wind energy, seems quite substantial. Enough energy for 1/4 of all Saskatchewan homes for perspective.

CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/06/12 -- TransCanada Corporation (TSX: TRP) (NYSE: TRP) (TransCanada) today announced the completion of the Quebec-based Gros-Morne wind farm, the final phase of Cartier Wind Energy. Gros-Morne was officially commissioned early on the morning of November 6, 2012.

This emission-free wind farm was completed one month ahead of schedule and can produce up to 111 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy, enough to meet the needs of over 20,000 Quebec homes every year.

"We're pleased to announce the full completion of Cartier Wind Energy, demonstrating progress in increasing the supply and availability of renewable emission-free energy" said Russ Girling, TransCanada's president and chief executive officer. "Combined with the rest of our power portfolio, TransCanada is now providing emissions-free electricity to more than 2.5 million homes in North America."

The five phases of Cartier Wind Energy has a total capacity of 590 MW, enough to meet the needs of more than 100,000 Quebec homes. All of the power produced by the project is sold to Hydro-Quebec under 20-year power purchase agreements. Cartier is the largest wind farm in Canada and is owned by TransCanada Corporation (62 per cent) and Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. (38 per cent).

As part of its renewable or emissions-free energy portfolio, TransCanada also owns, operates or has an interest in:

    we had different companys including

      Transcanada and Enbridge both operate
wind farms. I would like to see the
expansion of the wind industry stop
because I am not interested in
      subsidizing windmill builders. No wind
energy project on the planet generates
enough power at the right time to pay for
      itself.

Wind farms are chronic money losers. A lot of people do not realize that extra conventional generating capacity has to be built into the system along with wind power to cover power needs when it's not windy. Just ask the Europeans how successful their wind power programs have been.
