I agree with bucket. CTR has pulled the rail from
Battleford to Meadow Lake. The only strip of rail
that was going to the northwest. Apparently there
is a bit of oil in northwest SK.
The highway 40 from Shellbrook to North
Battleford was built up about 4 years ago. Traffic
has been increasing and with all the patching its
really becoming a dogs breakfast to drive.

The reason they are tearing up all the rail is "efficiency". Too much "efficiency" and we will all be broke.

Big problem with rail in Canada is that
there labor rates are at Government rates
since they are former crown corps. So
they can't operate anything but the
        mainlines cost effectively.

I blame the government for allowing CP and CN
for rail abandonment. When they were given free
land, weren't they committed in perpetuity to
          service Western settlement?

The whole elevator demolition and rail
abandonment set the prairies back 100 years,
IMHO. Guess the crow crapped on us! Grrr

Klause your right, I have heard that from friends
who work for supply companies for oil. Slowing
down a lot, that's where I heard this happened just
months before the 2008 crash. Every quarter is
            less demand for supplies.
Their fore the inauguration will take place in jan
then early feb or late all shit will hit the fan. Grain
            will tank.
Boy would be nice to see into the future, my
guess could be like I'm thinking.

no hurry getting that oil out of the ground, they got
no pipe to put it in. nat gas prices are in the crapper
and that sure don't help. the bakken and gas
fracking on the industry side, along with environuts
and their Backers (no new pipe south or west) are
              putting the squeeze on Alberta

                      I don't think we're headed for 2008 again.

Oil field is seasonal... we're ramping up for winter. What I'm saying is it won't be a mad rush.. I.E. "normal" levels....

Gas is slow... it has been for years... why? Because us ingenious, efficient Canadians came up with coil tubing rigs. One rig can do 9 holes in 1 week.... Imagine
what 200 CT rigs can do in 150 days!

Oil drilling now, especially in the Bakken, Viking, and Cardium, and in the oil sands are long range directionals, and much slower to drill... that equals less wells
in a given period of time.
