Well Oneoff few people that ever sit at the table
understand how intimidating it is to enter the room
and face seven guys that already have there mind
made up about you and your cause . I hope you
can find peace this holiday season and enjoy your
family . Just came from funeral of 50 year old
friend who left 3 young daughters not a great day
    .

I am talking about my "unrefundable" pulse levy on pea sales in excess of 6 figures this last year.

Thankyou to those who started to expose the SPG; not too long ago; thankyou to a certain individual who was a few months ahead of most others regarding non Canadian speculators in Sask Farm Land; and even thank you to crusaders bringing forward points of view that are not yet considered mainstream solutions.

In the case of SPG; it is becoming quite clear that we are both talking about a complete board who are in place to represent interests such as mine; but were sitting; as "board member colleages" around a table where considerable sums of money were being doled out. How any director; at every moment could not feel the obvious dilema of being associated with wearing two hats at one time escapes me.

But eventually it erupts and at least part oozes out.
Never should have happened. But plenty did; even if just the election process which has been recognized as tainted and I would suggest scandalous.
Never had to happen if the basic priciple's were understood. We must insist and demand; else get these examples repeated and expanded.

Remember you will endure to the extent that you will tolerate. There will be those who act as apologists; those who will remain in complete denial and the messengers will be blamed or worse; but the outcome is inevitable.

Casualties on all sides; and plenty of blame due for allowing it to happen in the first place; and continuing for longer than necessary.

Ultimately that fallout lands on the majority who did little or nothing.

Time for a bit of enlightenment. This is an actual true story.

Sometime ago there was a court case conducted at a small city Court house. Now granted; the Crown attorney appeared small in stature; but he was peppering the defendant with questions. The accused had what could be referred to as a fairly widespread reputation; but like anyone else he did have his supporters. At some point the judge called for a recess; and as the prosecuter wound his way down the crowded aisle past the accused's girlfriend; blurted out "You xxx'ing little bastard".

The prosecuter was somewhat taken aback and sometime later had the opportunity to relay the experience to the judge in charge.

He commented to the judge; "I didn't so much mind being called a "xxx'ing bastard"; but she didn't have to call me "little".

          oneoff my head spins also!
jfreedom.."regardless of election results"...are you sure you want to go down this road??? mr wiens might be the most over qualified dude for this position but if pulse growers did not elect him than how does the remaining pulse board deem it appropriate to appoint him. why then would the pulse grower's participate in a $50,000.00-- 100,000.00 on an election??

"Looks like there is still one open spot on the board"

Maybe there is still a chance that it isn't a simple 4-3 count.

            Care to elaborate?

Tipsy i agree that it's probably not the best course
of action but even the most thought out set of
bylaws or constitution s could never have planned
for this gong show . I would imagine that after this
they will be having more than a few meetings on
board governess . That said I feel for those left at
the table and say thanks that I'm not there . It's a
no win situation for them . This maybe the time to
start calling for a opt out or refundable check off
when it started I don't think they ever thought
acres would get to we're they are now . If there's
to much money laying around guys can get real
creative on how to piss it away .

There is a pile of cash coming in at the Pulse
Board. I am sure the initiators never dreamed
that it would ever be so large. Actually, it would
be nice to see exactly what kind of research they
are working on, what new markets they are
finding and who is getting the information on the
new markets. There is a lot they could do to keep
                  us abreast.

Its kind of like unions, as they get big and
bigger. People are starting to resent the fact that
it is not voluntsry and the directors are not
                  effective.

Also can be the reasons why it is so important to maintain the status quo

And why at least some people seek out "thankless jobs"

And why those sad truths have to be stuck in everyone's face

else the tsunami or snowball or mega disaster, once in a while, just gets to a size that blows everyone's mind.

Thre is a information poster section at pulse days
on research. Pulse growers has always had good
directors, doing a great job with pulse days, web
                      site etc.

Benchmarking. There are many grain/pulse etc
type organizations in USA, Canada, Australia etc.
what do you guys see, and I mean real facts and
stuff here, no philosophy . That they are doing
                      and saskpulse isn't?

Maybe a director, or employee should travel to
other trade shows, grower meetings, have
discussions with those boards and administration.
                      Comparing SWOT, strength,
                      weakness,opportunity and threats. Maybe they
do this now I don't know.

Current board appointed 2 people. Three people
resigned. There was still 4 people on board to
                        serve until Jan meeting.

I served for 6 yrs. up to 40 days per year, plus
conference calls and daily emails and one on one
calls and discussion. People are not jumping up
and down to commit to this kind of service. It is a
huge commitment. We should be thankfull that
the board was able to find 2 qualified people that
were willing to step up to this commitment. Not
                        bitch and wine about it.

Totally wrong attitude Dave. I hear you telling me..... not asking those who are your master.

Sorry ...who foot the bills and should be your master.

Just to make sure everyone knows this, I am not
on the SPG board any longer.

I didn't mean for my comment to sound bitchy
about the duties of being a director of any
organization. But it is so easy to sit back and
assume things about an organization when you
are not day to day involved and don't have all the
info. Believe me, decisions are not taken lightly at
                            this table.

Dave I for one appreciate the effort people like yourself and Gustgd, who actually get out and sit on these boards, put in. Its easy to sit and bitch. I respect people that get things done.

I have been disappointed by the current turmoil on the SPG board. I don't understand what the infighting is about. I personally know and like the "3 amigos" but I was dissappointed in their actions. I think they did the right thing in resigning. Anyway keep up the good work. Maybe see you back on the board some day.
